(a propos of nothing to do with this post, someday i'll figure out how to make animated icons in GIMP. today is not that day.)
today's internal dialogue with my Self:
Self: so... lemme get this straight. you have the interest and the capacity to date other people, but you're having trouble selecting people who can actually be available to meet your need for whatever degree of relationship you can handle, correct?
me: right.
Self: okay, let's run through the check list once again and see where we're going off the rails.
me: right.
Self: openly poly?
me: check.
Self: like-minded partner with a busy life of his own that leaves you with solo time to fill?
me: check.
Self: an interesting pool of potential options?
me: check.
Self: increased willingness to make vulnerable declarations of interest to interesting parties?
me: check. well, mostly. kinda. nothing got broken, does that count?
Self: improved ability to select for availability?
me: well, there's a funny thing, there...
Self: you picked someone local for once, right?
me: y'see, there's -
Self: okay, if not local, then within a reasonable distance, but at least available without having to do the Dance of the Daytimers six months in advance, *right*??
me: well, it's not exactly -
Self: you at least picked someone within your province of origin then, *right*???
me: erm...
Self: you didn't go outside the country, RIGHT???... no, you wouldn't do that to me aga- how many times DOES that make it, now??
me: um...
Self: AGAIN??? A-Freekin-GAIN??? WHAT THE FRAK WERE YOU THINKING AND HOW THE HELL DID YOU THINK THIS WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM, YOU ROCKET SCIENTIST OF RELATIONSHIPS, YOU...???
me: uh... it seemed like a good idea at the time?

me: er... she's really cute??
