The message machine seemed to be completely useless, which just made Breanna more determined to find out what was going on--through more direct methods, if she had to. There was simply no way she was going to stay here, wherever 'here' was. Her connection to the branches of the Mother here were weak, pale, reminding her of the way Tir Alainn felt when she visited it with Falco. But the buildings she saw through the windows were nothing like a Clan house, and there were so many strange things she didn't recognize. How could she have gotten here?

The urge to run outside and listen to what the wind could tell her was almost overwhelming, but Breanna forced herself to stand her ground. Panicking isn't going to do me any good, she thought firmly. I've faced worse before, and Selena and the others will be looking for me. And I wouldn't want to be whoever brought me here when she shows up.

Breanna shivered slightly and pushed back the desk chair to stand. She loved Selena like a sister, but she'd seen what the Lady of the Moon--who was also a Daughter of the House of Gaian with equal power in all four elements--could do when angry, and while she didn't fear the woman, she couldn't help but be a little afraid of what she could do. Ever since that war against the Inquisitors . . .

No. She wasn't going to think about that. Not now. Breanna turned and examined the room for the second time, noting again the items left on the bed that was--she assumed--supposed to be hers. Not that she planned to be here long enough to sleep in it.

The letter on the bed said something about an Administrative building, but every moment she spent trying to find the place was a moment longer away from home. And why go all that distance when there were people right here who likely knew what was going on?

Pressing her lips together in a tight frown, Breanna left the room, only pausing a moment to look up and down the hallways before crossing it and pounding on the nearest door. "Open up!" she demanded, not caring who heard her. Liam would probably have a fit if he saw her behaving like this in front of strangers, but right now she didn't give two figs about what he thought. Besides, he wasn't here to see her, was he?

The thought caused a pang in her heart, and Breanna pounded again more loudly on the door to cover it up. "Someone had better tell me what's going on!"
