When: Saturday.
Where: Out and about and then his room.
Rating: PG-13.
Summary: The second date is always more interesting than the first.
'Well, off to the library~' Kaoru chimed in his head as the door to his room clicked behind him. He set a quick pace as he walked, dressed in casual clothing consisting of baggy jeans and a white wife-beater with a black jacket over it. He whistled a happy tune as he made his way to the library door, suddenly gaining a calm, collect composure as he swung the door open and nonchalantly walked into the building. His eyes searched for their 'target' so to speak.
Ami stood, leaning against a bookshelf with a large, leather-bound volume in her hands. She was wearing a simple light blue dress that went down to her knees with matching sandals. A white choker was wound around her neck and her glasses had been left on her desk. She was completely oblivious to the world around her, including the fact that Kaoru had just entered the library.
Kaoru spotted the blue color out of the corner of his eye, smirking and sliding over to her side. He used the fact that she was oblivious against her, and moved up close before speaking. "... Hey there."
It took her a moment to register that someone was beside her and talking to her. “Mn?” she murmured, blinking a few times before turning her head to the side. She found herself face-to-face with Kaoru and froze, giving a soft, “Oh!” as her face flushed slightly. “H-hello.”
Kaoru smiled kindly and pulled his head back, standing up with his hips a little forward and his knees locked. "How're you, Ami?" He asked, canting his head to the side as he continued to smile at her. He found her irresistibly cute, so it was very hard not to tease her now and then to make her blush.
She took a few deep breaths, closing the book with a quiet thump. “I’m alright,” she smiled at him, the haze of being caught up in the book starting to dissipate. “How about yourself?” She had to admit, he was sort of… handsome. Okay, not ‘sort of.’ He just was. That realization made her blush again, as much as she tried not to.
Kaoru quirked an eyebrow at the sudden blush. He knew what it was she was blushing at, and decided to intensify the redness by taking her hand, bowing then kissing it. "I'm fine, now." He smiled up to her.
As if to spite her and fulfill his mental wish, her face flushed deeper. He’d kissed her. He’d kissed her hand, but he’d still kissed her. “Y-you are?” she squeaked, eyes wide. Why was that? Was it because of her? No, perish the thought. He was probably just happy to be going out somewhere, to be getting away from the classes he probably found so dull. Yes, that must have been it.
Kaoru chuckled, standing up, but not yet releasing her hand. "Well, why wouldn't I be? I get to spend a cloudless evening with a pretty girl. That's all I need to be happy," He explained, his eyes meeting hers to lock into an intense gaze.
Her blue eyes stared, transfixed on his green ones. “Pretty girl?” she repeated slowly. Surely he couldn’t mean her. She wasn’t… pretty. Well, no one had ever called her pretty.
A gentle thumb ran across the back of her hand as he answered. "Of course. And, where would said pretty girl like to go tonight...? Out to eat...? Or, just walk around?" He asked before releasing her hand.
There was that swooning feeling again. “Wh-whatever you want to do is prefect,” she said breathlessly. She definitely had to work on not passing out every time she was around him. It wouldn’t do to pass out in the middle of whatever they were going to do.
Kaoru looked up, putting his hands in his pockets as he thought for a moment. He definitely had the money for them to go out to eat, but that's what they'd done the last time. Now, he wanted to make it a little different, to keep it interesting. He finally looked back to her. "How about... We go out to the park and enjoy the scenery for a little while, then figure out where to go from there...?" He suggested.
“That sounds wonderful,” she replied. She couldn’t help but be relieved that he’d picked something; if she’d have been forced to choose, she wasn’t sure what would have come out of her mouth. She turned to place the book on the pedestal where she’d found it, her face finally having gone back to its original color.
Kaoru grinned, offering her his arm after she put the book back in its place. "Well, shall we?" He asked, tilting his head and body slightly in a bow, his gentlemanly nature taking over a bit.
She took his arm with a grin. “We shall,” she chimed. His somewhat formal disposition was endearing, she had to admit.
Kaoru rested his free hand on the hand that touched his arm temporarily, removing it after a quick smile. He then began to lead her to the door, opening it and allowing her to exit first as they moved out toward the park.
The bluenette returned his smile before letting her eyes wander around the park. It really was a beautiful day - cloudless, just like he’d said. “It’s amazing how wonderful it is today,” she mused aloud. “For this time of year it should be raining.”
Kaoru continued to lead her through the beautiful day, along the path leading to their destination. As they reached the park, the conversation started. "I know... Isn't it strange...?" He commented, looking around and suddenly feeling a bit strange. He remembered hearing that the weather around here was completely unpredictable... Maybe the sun was shining just for them....? "In any case, we're lucky... Good thing we decided on going... I mean... hanging out tonight."
She looked up at the sky. “I’m glad as well.” Her gaze drifted back to the boy beside her and she smiled again. “We must have impeccable timing, then.”
Kaoru smiled back to her. "I suppose we do," He answered, walking along the path down through the beautiful scenery. It wasn't long before they found themselves near the lake. Kaoru suddenly perked up a bit more, pulling Ami a little bit to take her over to the water's edge. He stood there with her, staring out onto the water.
The image quite literally took her breath away. She loved the water - Kaoru had to know that. “Just like the cabin,” she said softly, her eyes gliding over the scene. “We’d take the yacht out on the lake and dive off the side… The water was always warm and the water so clear…”
Kaoru released her arm to kneel down at the water's edge, dipping his fingers in the water to feel the cool liquid. He sighed, relaxed by the feeling. "You enjoy the water...?" He smiled up to her.
She nodded before crouching next to him. “I guess you could say that it’s my element.” Oh, if only he knew how true that was. “I grew up around water, so I guess that liking it just comes natural.” No, it came natural because she was Mercury; but she couldn’t tell him that. Not yet. Maybe not ever. It could put him in danger.
Kaoru quirked his eyebrow, glancing to her. "Oh, really...?" He asked, pulling his wet fingers out of the water and flicking the tiniest bit at her, all the while smirking mischievously.
She laughed lightly, putting her arm up to try and block it. “Hey!” she chuckled. She dipped her own fingers in the water and flicked some at him with a grin. “You can’t not expect retaliation,” she chided teasingly.
Kaoru flinched, shaking his head. "Gah!!" He yelped, wiping the water from his face. "No, I guess not..." He grinned, splashing a little water at her.
She splashed back, her grin a mirror of his. “I’m warning you, I’m not to be taken lightly with battles of water!” she laughed.
Kaoru immediately splashed back. "Well, I'm warning you that I don't give up that easily!" He chuckled, noting mentally that her dress was getting wet. But she seemed, happy enough....
The water splashed straight down her front and she gasped, shivering slightly with a laugh. “Now look, our clothes are all wet,” she pointed out with a wry grin. “I’d have to say that I’m worse off than you though, with that last attack of yours.”
Kaoru looked down at himself, then up at her. "Eheheh... Sor--" He only got halfway through saying 'sorry' when a sudden loud, booming crack filled the air. He jumped, stifling a bit of startled profanity as he looked up just as rain started to pour down. Apparently, they weren't as lucky as they'd thought, the sudden downpour not giving them any time to get away.
She gasped again, throwing her arms over her ears. Oh no, it was a thunder storm. She wasn’t particularly scared of them, as long as she was inside. But she wasn’t; she was outside. In the thunderstorm. Her eyes were wide and she looked around frantically for some shelter before remembering that they were all the way out at the lake and that Kaoru was with her. She shakily lowered her arms, not wanting to seem as frightened as she felt.
Kaoru looked around as another loud crack boomed over them. He noticed how frightened she looked, and had to admit, he was a bit shaken up himself, but he had to protect her.... He saw the line of trees, picking out one that was lower than the rest for safety's sake and grabbing her arm. He stood, pulling her up and practically dragging her to the shelter of the thick layer of new leaves above them. He immediately took off his jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders, and pulled her into his arms and held her tightly.
It all happened so fast that she didn’t realize what had occurred until he took her in his arms. She immediately forgot about the rain and felt her face flush as she was pressed against him. Oh dear, this was different, to say the least. She wasn’t sure that she’d be able to handle this without swooning or at the very least babbling idiotically. To save what little dignity she had left, the bluenette decided to just not say anything.
Kaoru waited a moment to calm himself down enough to think rationally. It was at this point in time that he realized what he'd just instinctively done. He pulled away, looking into her eyes. "Ami, are you okay...?" He asked, a look of genuine worry and distress on his face as he tried to make sure she was alright.
After taking a moment to register the question and find her voice, she nodded and replied, “Y-yes. Just a bit sh-shaken up, I suppose.” Well, she wasn’t acting like a complete fool. Yet.
Kaoru sighed, grasping her shoulders and adjusting his jacket on them. "That's... Good," He said, hanging his head in relief, then looking up to her again and smiling. "I'm sorry for getting you into this. It was my choice to take you here..." He was silent for a moment, and then another crack of thunder hit only a split-second after the blinding flash of lightning.
“It’s alright, rea-” She was cut off by the lightning and thunder and on instinct, squeaked and threw herself at Kaoru, burying her face in his chest and grasping his shirt. She really didn’t like thunder.
Kaoru blinked, taken aback by her tackle, but caught her nonetheless. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders and lower back, holding her tightly. He was calmed enough to know what to do now. "It's alright, Ami. Just calm down, it's okay."
Her breathing was shallow and eyes wide. She nodded at his words, once again not trusting herself to speak. He was warm, despite the cold rain. She thought of the irony of it all; she loved the water, but hated rain. Rain like this, anyway.
Kaoru looked around, knowing what he had to do as another loud boom filled the air once more. He reached his hand down, grabbing the back of her knees and lifting her up bridal style. He then turned her toward him and took off, heading for the nearest shelter as the rain pelted his back. He leaned over a bit, trying to keep her as dry as possible as he managed to make it under an awning that went around the perimeter of a cafe. He then leaned against the wall and slid down, letting her go, though she was in his lap now. He tilted his head back, it thumping against the wall behind him.
She curled up against him as he ran, closing her eyes tightly. When they finally stopped and he sat, her head remained tucked under his chin and her body curled against his. Her entire frame was shaking, though if it was from fear or cold she couldn’t tell.
Kaoru held her tightly to him, soon tilting his head down and putting his forehead against hers. "... Ami... Are you okay...?" He asked, glad that they were out of the rain, though they weren't inside yet. After the sudden run, Kaoru would have to sit for a while before he could get up and go.
She realized that she could feel his warm breath on her face and flushed slightly before nodding, completely oblivious to the fact that both their heads moved. “I-I will be.”
Kaoru touched his ran his hand up and down her arm, pulling her tighter as another lighting bolt flashed, followed by the loud sound it created. He protested against the noise in his head, but more because of the fact that it was bothering Ami than because he didn't like it.
Her breath caught in her throat; his arms around her felt soothing and his hand against her skin was warm. She eventually settled in, tentatively resting her hand on his shoulder so that she was more comfortable in his lap. If she was being honest, this was the closets that she’d ever been to a boy, or a person in general.
Kaoru knew they'd have to move indoors soon, but he didn't want to move yet. Not for the fact that he couldn't but he was content... But, he knew that if it kept up, she might get worse, and he didn't want that at all. "... Come on... We have to get inside."
“R-right,” she managed. The bluenette uncurled herself, finding that her legs had locked up and become stiff. She practically rolled off Kaoru, landing with a tiny ‘oof’ on her backside next to him.
Kaoru smiled, looking over to her and standing up. He reached down, offering her his hand. "Need a little help?" He asked gently.
She smiled up at him sheepishly before taking his hand. “Yes, please.” She pulled herself up with his help, his jacket falling loose on her shoulders. She reached up to fix it, her wet hair sticking to her face and neck. She was in a considerably better condition than she had been a few minutes ago, thanks to this boy.
He smiled, brushing a bit of hair from her face as he looked at her. He touched his forehead to hers again. "You're okay now?" He asked, his hands resting on her upper arms.
Her heard skipped a beat, she was sure, and she nodded dumbly. “Y-yes,” she said faintly. She was positive that once again, her face was pinker than normal.
Kaoru pulled away. "That's good. Let's go inside before the storm gets any worse," He said, the thunder cracking again. He hoped she wouldn't freak out... He grabbed the jacket from her shoulders and put it over her head enough to protect her face from getting any more wet, and put his arm around her shoulders, leading her hurriedly toward the dorms.
She nodded again, allowing herself to be led. She was sure now that she wasn’t going to pass out; quite the opposite, actually. She found that she actually liked walking through the rain… with Kaoru. It was… strange and new.
It took a while for it to really hit him what was going on, and what had happened. But once it did, he got a little more nervous. This hit just about when they got to the dorms. "U-uhm.. Whose room do we go to...?" He asked nervously under his breath before speaking up. "... Ami, would you like me to take you back to your dorm, or do you want to hang out in the lobby or at my room?"
The question took her by surprise, and she had to think for a moment. The obvious choice was her room, but it was all the way in the other building, so his room was closer. The lobby wouldn’t do, because she’d likely catch cold if she didn’t dry off soon. With a mental sigh and a flushed face she said, “… Y-your room is the logical choice.”
Kaoru blushed slightly as they walked into the Boy's Dorms. "A-alright..." He answered as they made their way up to the room. It looked like his roommate wasn't there once they arrived, but the line he'd made through their room immediately told anyone that the two of them had their differences....
She raised an eyebrow at the line before turning to him. “Problems with your roommate?” she asked, her tone slightly teasing.
Kaoru laughed a bit. "Eheheh... Yeah... We... don't exactly get along. But, I manage..." He took a seat on his bed, which was familiar territory for the both of them. As were the books on his side table. They had been split into two piles now, one smaller than the other. One book was on its own.
Ami went to sit next to him before hearing a faint drip. She looked down to see that she was standing in a puddle of water. “Oh no,” she said quietly. She looked up at him to state the obvious. “We’re both soaked…”
Kaoru laughed a bit. "Yeah, well... We're gonna be soaked one way or another, but I guess we should get changed. I should have something that fits you.” He got up, moving over toward the dresser and pulling out a loose T-shirt and a pair of drawstring shorts. He handed them to her before grabbing a pair of jeans and looking up to her. “Do you want to go get changed in the bathroom...?" He asked.
“Ah, yes,” she said, her cheeks flushed once again. Where else was she expected to change? Surely not in the same room as - she cut off the thought before it was finished and hastily made her way to the bathroom, the clothes clutched tightly in her arms.
Kaoru smiled at her as she left, immediately stripping down and replacing his boxers and pants with dry ones. He then moved to undo the blankets and yanked them off of the bed, leaving the dry sheets there as he started to fold the blanket.
She carefully folded her clothes and laid them on the side of the tub to dry. Her face was once again flushed - all of her clothes were soaked, including her undergarments. It was with a shamed face that she walked back into the room, her arms crossed over her chest as she thanked whatever deity was responsible for clothing that the t-shirt was loose and the drawstrings tight.
Kaoru blinked, blushing slightly as she came in looking so adorable. It wasn't until he tossed the folded blanket to the side on the floor that he realized he hadn't grabbed a shirt to wear yet. He flushed brightly, looking down at his slim, bare upper-body. He then reached for the dresser to grab a shirt.
No matter how hard she tried not to, Ami’s female instincts overruled her common sense as her eyes drifted over his frame when his back was turned. He was built quite nicely, and she wondered why she hadn’t noticed when she’d been in his arms. No, no, none of that now. She purposely turned her head away, staring at some point on the ceiling and attempting to look completely oblivious to his shirtless state.
Kaoru grabbed the first shirt he found, slipping into it with ease to find that it wasn't much better. The shirt was white and skin-tight, hugging to his shoulders. But, at least it was a shirt. He looked to her, smiling at her nervousness, and then sat down on the bed. "Ami... You can look now," He said, still smiling as she turned around.
She smiled back, the rain pounding on his window. She stood awkwardly across the room, not quite sure where to go. She finally decided to step towards Kaoru, settling lightly on the edge of the mattress next to him. It wasn’t as if she wasn’t allowed to sit. Right?
Kaoru tilted his head silently popping his neck and then shaking his head, the water in his hair splashing a bit. But, he didn't realize that would happen until he felt it hit him. He then turned to her, his hair messed up as he looked at the bluenette who was obviously wet in the face now.
Ami blinked a few times through the water before raising an eyebrow. “Thanks for the second shower,” she teased, reaching up to wipe at her cheeks. A light giggle escaped her and she flicked some of the water back at him.
Kaoru flinched, laughing a bit back as he used his built-in weapon for retaliation. He shook his head violently once more.
With a squeal she shook her own head, sending her blue locks and water everywhere. Once she was out of ammo she ran her fingers through her hair, attempting to make it look acceptable as she laughed in delight.
Kaoru did the same, reaching over to brush a few strands out of her face as he laughed. He then got a slightly worried look on his face. "... I'm really sorry about today. It's my fault we went outside instead of in to a cafe or something."
She waved it off with a smile. “It’s alright,” she said simply. “It’s been a while since I’ve been caught in a storm; that’s probably the reason I was so frightened at first.”
Kaoru smiled back to her. "Well, I'm glad you're okay now... You had me pretty freaked out back there," He said as another low rumbled was lessened by the walls they were bound in.
Her face turned concerned. “I hope that… I didn’t cause you to worry too much,” she said guiltily. “I didn’t mean to cause any trouble.”
Kaoru moved in front of her, leaning down enough to wrap his arms around her shoulders. "You didn't cause any trouble," He said through the embrace. "As long as you're okay, I'll be fine."
She fought the urge to go rigid; she wished she’d kept her undergarments on. Instead of completely pushing him away she went against her good judgment and tentatively wrapped her arms around him, carefully returning the hug. “Y-yes, I’m okay now,” she said quietly. But oh dear God, what she wouldn’t give to just disappear into the mattress.
Kaoru released her soon afterward, sitting back down next to him and leaning back. He closed his eyes. "I'm sorry about that. I just don't want you to think I don't care... I figure if I don't do something, you might not enjoy spending time with me.”
A breath caught in her chest as she stared at him. “Not… enjoy spending time with you?” she repeated. “Are you crazy? I don’t think that would ever be possible!” Well, it was true! She had taken an immediate liking to Kaoru, which was odd. It had, after all, taken her a while to fully trust Usagi and the rest of the Scouts.
Kaoru blinked to her, managing a smile as he blushed. He didn't expect her to like him that much. He then suddenly leaned up, kissing her cheek and smiling to her. "If you mean that, then I'll keep on taking you out..."
She blushed and reached up to gingerly touch the place where his lips had touched her cheeks. Had he just…? Oh, he had! She smiled brightly. “I’d… like that.”
Kaoru smiled, resting his hand on hers. "Now, I'm sure you'd like to get back to your room... Shall we walk back...?" He offered.
She looked out the window; the storm had indeed slowed down, but she wasn’t willing to leave just yet. How odd. She curled her legs up to her chest and rested her chin on her knees. “Not… yet,” she said with a shy smile. “If that’s okay.”
Kaoru blinked. He had expected her to want to go back to her room, but if she actually wanted to stay, he was perfectly fine with that. He wanted her to, anyway... He left his hand on hers, and in reply to her question, he smiled and moved his fingers to wrap around her palm, each one between one of hers. "Alright."
Her smile brightened immediately and she closed her eyes for a moment. “Thanks,” she said quietly. She took the time to figure out what this was. She was in Kaoru’s room, holding his hand. Did that mean something? She’d have to ask Minako or Rei the next time she saw one of them.
Kaoru looked to the side, at his beside table where the books were. "I've been reading... I had to stay in bed most of the time, so... I'm through with two of them. Thanks for bringing them by... Though, now that I think about it, I shouldn't have let you do that..."
She laughed lightly, opening her large blue eyes. “I’m glad you’ve been reading them. And it was no trouble,” she said, holding up her no longer wrapped hand. “It’s still a bit tender, but it should heal up fine within the week.”
He looked with a half-smile at it. "Well, don't try to do too much with it... I won't have you getting hurt again. But really, I wish you hadn't brought the books up... You could have hurt yourself again. But... Then again, if you hadn't we wouldn't be here right now, would we?" He asked, smiling.
Her face flushed the slightest shade of pink. “We wouldn’t,” she said softly. “I’m glad that we are, though.” Well. Nothing quite like that had ever come out of her mouth, and she wasn’t exactly sure why it had. What she did know though, was that it was true.
Kaoru glanced over to her, feeling something in his head click. Or rather, click off. Before he realized what he was doing, he had maneuvered himself to kiss Ami, the hand holding hers tightening slightly and his free hand giving a ginger touch to her cheek. When he finally noticed what he was doing though, he didn't stop, as he didn't quite feel as if it were wrong.
She could feel her blood pulsing through her veins and her heart thumping in her chest. She was sure that every sense she had was heightened as he moved towards her. Any thoughts going through her head disappeared as soon as he pressed his lips to hers, though. It was like nothing she’d ever experienced before, which was extremely accurate; she’d only been kissed on the lips a few times in her entire life. She was surprised, to say the least, when her legs seemed to unfold by themselves until she was sitting cross-legged on the bed, her hand timidly going to his shoulder as she returned the kiss with equal shyness.
Kaoru managed to hold himself there for another moment or two before he felt the need to pull back. He looked at her, his face still not too far away. His hand tensed on hers, and his other pulled away from her cheek to rub his opposite upper arm nervously. He wanted to say 'I'm sorry' or something along those lines, but he didn't quite know if that was the correct thing to do. And so, he waited a moment, before the slight blush on his cheeks increased tenfold and he had to look away from her as if to keep his pride.
She was sure that her face was as red as, if not redder than, his. He looked away and she finally snapped out of whatever stupor she’d been in. She raked her mind for something to say, and failing miserably, she did the only thing she could think of. With boldness that would make Minako cheer, she leaned forward and wrapped one arm loosely around Kaoru’s neck, using her other hand to gently cup his cheek and turn his face back to her. “Kaoru?” she said gently.
Kaoru blinked when her hand slipped from beneath his, only to brighten even more when the arm slid around his neck. He wasn't expecting her to be accepting of him anymore, so the gentle look in her eyes softened him greatly, at least enough for him to try to apologize for his behavior. "Ami... I, uhm..." He started, his voice trailing off when he found himself at a loss for words.
“Kaoru,” she repeated, not quite sure what she was going to say. The words seemed to just come, for which she was thankful. “You don’t have to say anything,” she said gently. She hoped that it was enough. Her lips hovered centimeters from his. She was positive that he could hear the pounding of her heart, because she could sure feel it. She feared that it would burst right out of her if she didn’t calm down soon.
Kaoru took a deep breath, relaxing as he tried to gain his senses back. He allowed his arm to move around her waist, his free hand moving up to lightly touch her chin. He nodded in response to her, finally tilting his head towards her to let their lips meet again.
Another kiss definitely didn’t help her calm down, but it definitely wasn’t unwanted either. Luckily, she was more prepared the second time; as prepared as she could be, anyway. Which, in all honesty, wasn’t very much. She tried - and utterly failed - to think about what Minako would tell her to do. Deciding to abandon any twisted advice she may have come up with, she let her instincts take over.
Kaoru continued to kiss, letting it stay tender and gentle as he didn't want to startle either of them. After what seemed like an eternity, he pulled back, the flying feeling in his stomach not going to rest even after he touched their foreheads together. He smiled to her, now wrapping his other arm around her waist as well.
She moved her other arm to his neck, smiling sweetly as their foreheads touched. She was experiencing a similar soaring throughout her entire being. The smallest giggle escaped her throat and she immediately gasped, eyes wide. “S-sorry,” she stammered. “I-I didn’t mean to laugh. This is just so… so…” She couldn’t even think of a word to describe how wonderful this was.
Kaoru smiled, his fingers lacing at the middle of her lower back as he leaned up and kissed her forehead. "It's okay.... I understand," He said softly, chuckling a bit. He too, thought it was quite wonderful. He was quite fond of her, and was glad he'd charmed her into liking him as well, though she didn't even need to try to get him. Oh, what a commotion Tamaki would make if he saw them... What shrieks of happiness would break their eardrums thanks to Hunny... A sweet congrats from Haruhi, a kind remark and subtle threat from Kyoya... But what would Hikaru think? He pushed the thought aside, knowing that there was very little that would ever be able to come between the two of them.
But oh, he hadn’t had to charm her at all. It was just so easy for her to like him; she thought herself extremely lucky to have met him, and was extensively thankful. Her own friends, she knew, would be utterly joyful that Ami had met a boy she could get close to without passing out. They would likely throw her a party or something of the sort. The thought alone made her chuckle again, and she moved her head to drop her chin on Kaoru’s shoulder.
Kaoru leaned his head to the side, smiling sweetly. He could feel his heart bouncing around in his chest, his stomach a-flutter with it. He could have sworn they'd collide a few times if he wasn't careful. But still, he nuzzled her ear and smiled. It wasn't a bad feeling... But it was new.
A little sound between a mew and a sigh escaped her throat as his hair tickled her ear. She felt the blood rush to her face and she gasped in embarrassment. How… how impolite of her to make such a sound!
Kaoru laughed a bit, pulling back. He moved his hands up to her shoulders, one moving to lightly touch her cheek. "What kind of noise was that, hmm?" He asked teasingly.
“I-I…” she stammered, unable to come up with an answer. “It was… Nothing?”
Kaoru laughed, reaching down to grab her hand. He pulled it up to his mouth, kissing it, and then rubbing the soft skin with his thumb. "I'm sure it was."
She pouted slightly, eyes wide. “H-honestly, it was nothing!” she insisted. She had always been a terrible liar. “You… you tickled me, that’s all!”
Kaoru decided to be a little meaner now, leaning forward to just whisper in her ear. "Oh? Well, you sounded like you enjoyed it," he cooed, letting his warm breath fall on the vulnerably sensitive skin.
Her eyes fluttered and the same sound flew unbidden from her lips. Curse him for being so smart and devious… She tilted her head towards him, their cheeks touching as she fought back another mewl.
Kaoru smirked, laughing darkly. "What was that? I think I heard it again..." He teased before kissing her jaw line. He then pulled away, laughing at her. "I'm sorry, Ami... You're just so adorable when you're embarrassed."
Ami’s face was flushed at least six shades of crimson and she scowled at him, though she couldn’t keep a smile from crossing her face. “W-well, it’s not my fault that I’m so easy for you to tease!”
He was still grinning. "Well, that's a good thing for me. Not that you aren't completely irresistible without being embarrassed," he flirted, leaning forward and kissing her nose.
She rolled her eyes slightly, still blushing. “I’m far from irresistible,” she muttered, dropping her eyes to her lap. Really, there wasn’t anything special about her save her Scout status and her IQ! And those could hardly be called irresistible, especially when put together.
Kaoru reached forward, tapping her chin and tilting it up to kiss her again, though it only lasted a second. He then nuzzled her cheek. "Well, you are to me. I don't care what others think, but I find you quite charming."
“I find you the same,” she sighed, finally saying it and resting her head lightly against his. His hair smelled sweet, some mix of milk and honey. “Lovely,” she murmured, nestling her face into the crook of his neck.
Kaoru moved his hand up to run through her hair-- it was still cold from having just dried. But, it was pleasantly cool to him. He tilted his head to the side, slightly leaning against hers.
She began to hum softly, an old lullaby that her mother used to sing to her before bed. She’d been mostly raised by a nanny, but her mother was always home to put her to bed, even if she had to leave work to do it.
Kaoru closed his eyes, calmed by the pleasant voice and sweet-sounding song. He made an almost murring noise as he tried not to fall asleep. His weight against her would probably increase a little, since he was fighting fatigue after the run-around today.
The bluenette reached up and gently started stroking his hair back on a whim, continuing to hum. She wasn’t meaning to put him to sleep, but she was so entranced in the song that she hardly noticed when he started leaning against her.
Her motions didn't help him, and soon he was drifting off into a light sleep. His weight started to shift a bit, and a tired murring escaped his throat. "Mmmn..."
She found the sound strangely comforting, and likened it to the own sound she had made. She was so preoccupied with comparing the two sighs when she finally started to realize that he was falling asleep on her. “A-ah!” she squeaked, blushing as he fell on her, complete dead weight.
Kaoru was awakened by the noise, blinking and sitting up. "Ah-- Ami, I'm sorry! That song... It just... It put me to sleep, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to fall on you!" He apologized, taking her hand and lifting her back up. "I'm so sorry..." He repeated.
She chuckled slightly, waving it off. “It’s no trouble,” she said lightly. “But I think that proves that you need sleep.”
Kaoru smiled. "I.. Uhm... Yeah. The rain's just about stopped-- I'll walk you back, alright...?" He offered to her.
With another chuckle she nodded. “I’d like that.”
He nodded in turn, then stood and reached his hand out to her. "Shall we, then?" He asked, bowing slightly.
She took his hand and smiled. “We shall.”
