Who: Dante and Fran When: Evening/night, right after their journal comment chat Where: Cafe Nausicaa What: They go out to dinner. Rating: PG currently.
Yo. What did Yo mean? ...hn. Whatever. With an almost uninterested, cool gaze, she smiled. "...Nice to see you as well, I am quite certain, Dante." With a pause, she looked him over. He was odd, for certain. There was a certain air about him, something she couldn't quite place. A... strange power inside him, resonating within and around him, his aura. Yes, he was one to keep an eye on. "...that sounds lovely."
Dante smiled, nodded once, and pushed himself away from the chair. It rocked back into a proper upright position--just barely. He waved towards the exit and started walking with her in that direction.
"So, what do you do in your spare time? Like when there's nothing else to do... for fun, a hobby," Dante suddenly asked after a few minutes of silence prevailed. He was probably more uncomfortable with the silence than anything Hell could throw at him. They rounded the corner of a building as Dante waited for an answer and he spotted the cafe just up ahead.
"Pillage ruins. Practice my archery. Ignore the past. The usual that an outcast stereotypically does." She smiled a bit, more following the other than walking side by side. It was interesting, though. She could smell him. A bit like... cheese? No. That's silly. There was something else. A cologne and water. He smelled like many things yet it was not unpleasant. "...and you? What do you enjoy doing?"
Dante looked at her and raised an eyebrow. "Pillaging, hmm? Sounds exciting." He smiled, although it was more of a smirk. "I'm a relax and do nothing kinda guy," he answered, giving an overrated sigh at the end of the sentence, his eyes rolling skyward as he acted dramatic. Then he looked back down with a smirk across his lips once more. "That, and I typically hunt demons and devils for a living. Fighting... now that's fun. But only if it's a challenge."
"It is a hobby. One who is my type just finds relics amidst ruins. My partner is the one who flatly steals." Pausing, she also raised an eyebrow. A bit cocky, hmm? "Demons? I also hunt... monsters. It is a good way to get bounties or sell items for gil." Licking her lips a bit, she smiled again at him. Fran actually didn't mind his company. Beside. He was kind of cute.
"I also fight for enjoyment. My expertise is archery; crossbows and normal, grappling, staves, rods, and the occasional katana or sword. Guns and handbombs are something I'm not quite good with."
Dante patted his sides where his twin pistols Ebony and Ivory sat holstered to his hips. "Guns and explosives excite me," he grinned mischievously. "We should spar some time, or otherwise practice one of those type activities. I play with swords, too, and I could always give archery a try. How hard could it be? I'm a good aim already."
The cafe was quickly nearing and Dante hop-skipped ahead to politely open the door. He must have been in a good mood to actually show his nice side. Ushering her inside, he glanced around at the various tables and couches. The place vaguely reminded him of the coffee shops back home where many bookworms often went to find a quiet place to read. "So, where to?"
He was really kind of cute. Sweet, too. "That sounds nice." Pausing, Fran replied in a way she wasn't used to. Flirtatiously. "Table. Perhaps a couch later if you come into some luck." Moving off to a table, she brushed some hair behind her neck and over her shoulders. Fran would be calm and cool, definitely.
Looking around and taking the place is, she took a few steps further, choosing the perfect table. Yes, it was quite perfect. Turning around, she scooted into the booth, awaiting for him to join in.
Dante grinned widely at that, entirely liking the idea too much. It was plain on his face that he was thinking a bit too much into it also. Wiping the grin off his face, Dante followed her to their table and slid in opposite her. It was then that it occurred to him to wonder if they actually served you in this cafe or not. Most regular coffee shops didn't, but was anything on this island all that regular? Not really.
Forgetting about it for the time being, Dante focused on his female companion instead. "So, tell me about your people. I've never encountered or heard of... Viera? Is that what you said it was?"
"Viera? I am an outcast. I chose to leave the Wood and in turn gave up the ability to hear the Green Word. I can no longer hear Her speaking to me." With a soft sigh, she picked up the menu and look through it. She didn't want to talk about the Viera. She didn't want to talk about Myurin... her sister. The girl she left behind in order to live her life.
And suddenly he felt like an ass. Good going Dante. He shifted around in the booth, a bit uncomfortable. He wanted to ask about the 'Green Word' and what that meant. He had a feeling, but that wasn't the same as knowing for sure. He didn't want to further upset her though and opted to save it for later, if ever at all.
"Anything good?" he asked, nodding towards the menu. He took a glance at the other placed on the table, but didn't grab it just yet. He wasn't sure he was even hungry at the moment.
"I can sense you are uneasy. Do not... fret. I just do not have good memories of that time. I used to be able to hear Her. Nature. I can feel Her desire, Her longing for me. The Green Word... I cannot speak it any longer... yet it was worth leaving, living my own life, hearing, smelling, speaking with Humes and Bangaas... and even being here. It was my chosen path."
A pause and she flipped through the extensive menu further. After she finished, she looked up at him. "Tea. Rose hip."
Dante showed his unease as he listened to her explain. It was rare for him to show emotion that like, but family and the like was a sensitive subject for him as well. But he understood that last part as well. "Live as you choose..." he whispered, memories welling up before he squelched them.
He started when she spoke up again about the menu. He raised an eyebrow and was suddenly peppy again, putting on a huge grin. "Oh yea? You like that stuff?" He grabbed a menu finally and began flipping through.
"...mm. Yes. But in doing so I became an outcast, no longer welcome in the village of Eruyt..." A sad smile graced her features as she spoke, her body looking almost limp, before she continued to look through the menu. "...I do enjoy tea. It soothes the body and... is part of nature."
Dante glanced at Fran over the top of his menu, which he held up in front of him instead of placing flat on the table. He raised an eyebrow, but lowered it again before she could take notice. He gazed back down at the menu.
"Choices, choices," he said in a tuneless 'sing-song' fashion. He shook his head as he flipped the couple of pages about and tried to find something he'd like.
