When: June 1st, around lunch time
Where: Cafeteria
What: Kaito's still upset over losing his things in the fight. A little card magic for a little audience never failed to cheer him up!

Supposed to be on hiatus, but what the heck.

Sakura Kinomoto entered the cafeteria, and seeing Kaito and hearing the shuffling of cards made her feel cheerful. But of course, she had cards as well. They were inside her shoulder bag that she was carrying. Sakura had gotten a ham and cheese sandwich, and a milk carton. Boy, was she hungry.

But eyeing Kaito, she waved her small arm and smiled, saying, "Ah, Kaito-kun! Good afternoon!" Once near where his table was she asked with wonder in her eyes, "What are you up to with those cards?"

That cheerful, young voice... Kaito recognized it as Sakura's. He glanced up from his deck and grinned that patented Kuroba grin at the girl as she approached him and sat down. "Hey, Kinomoto-chan!" he said cheerfully (thought it was mostly poker face, he was still really bummed about his magic effects).

He shuffled the deck one last time, before he placed it in the palm of his hand and held it out to the young girl. "I was thinking about doing some magic tricks with them," he said as he quirked an eyebrow with her, "Care to help me by picking a card?"

Before she could respond, however, he transferred the deck to his other hand and fanned it out in front of her, encouraging her to pick one.

FFFFF, and I'm watching DC episodes while posting this up. 8D

Sakura closed her eyes, trying to feel some sort of magical energy from the cards like she did her Clow Cards. Even though it was fake magic, she didn't care. And plus, Sakura always had the best of luck. Finally choosing one card, she then closed her eyes again, as if she was actually 'feeling' the card.

And that, she was. She saw the card in her mind. She knew what card it was. Finally knowing, she put the card back without looking at it.

Ace of spades, her mind told herself confidently.

Kaito took the deck and shuffled it creatively (he was doing things with that deck that seemed physically impossible for a regular magician to do, as well. The again, Kaito was known for defying physics).

When he was finished, he placed the neatly stacked deck back on the table, before he turned back to Sakura and studies her carefully.

Without warning, he reached out and brushed his hand behind her ear, pulling a card out of thin air. He showed her the face.

It was the Ace of Spades.

"Is this your card?" he asked with a cheeky grin.

Sakura was indeed surprised, but it was known that Kuroba Kaito was indeed an intelligent magician with skills. Her eyes didn't deceive her, though. It was really the ace of spades. But that card meant more than anything else. It was the card of death. It was bad luck. Sakura slightly shivered, but then told herself that everything would be alright.

"Waaah, Kaito-kun, you're so good at magic tricks!"

Kaito grinned at Sakura and spun the card around in his hand. "It's a gift!" he said with a wink, before he seemingly crumbled the card in his hand and made it disappear. Then, he turned back to his stacked deck and plucked the top card off of it, tossing it on the table face up.

It was also the Ace of Spades.

Kaito was good at this sleight-of-hand thing, there was no doubt about it.

"You are really good, Kaito-kun!" Sakura was really amazed at how good the Magician of the Silver Sky could do sleight-of-hand. She smiled even more. But then when she was going to do something more, she saw the little detective sneak behind her, having a cooked fish on his plate. "Ah, Sakura. Good afternoon!"

Sakura blinked twice before replying with, "Ah, ah, good afternoon, Edogawa-kun!"

Kaito didn't even stick around to say hi to Conan. As soon as he saw the fish on his plate, he had jumped out of his seat, grabbed his food, and crossed the cafeteria, his card deck stuffed securely in his pocket.

Fish. How annoying that the stupid little brat detective would choose something as disgusting as fish for lunch!

He wasn't sticking around for that.

Yaiba: KANCHOU KID I SHALL GET YOU!!!

"Ah, Kaito-kun, are you okay?" Sakura asked, trying to calm the magician down. Conan chuckled slightly before looking down at his lunch. "...Conan-kun," Sakura said softly. "Where'd you get that fish?"

Conan pointed behind him before beginning to eat it. Of course he finished it, it wasn't that big. "Ah, Conan-kun, you ate quickly." Conan laughed a bit sarcastically. "Oh, I guess I was hungry!"

"So, Kaito-niichan, are you okay?"

Kid: IT'S KAITOU. KAITOU!

Kaito couldn't hear what the two were talking about. He was too busy finishing his sandwich and milk on the other side of the room, his back turned towards both Sakura and Conan so he didn't have to look at the pure evil in fish form.

Yaiba: Whaddya talking about Kanchou KID?!

"Kaito-kun?" Sakura wondered aloud as she saw Kaito move to the other side of the room. Once she went to where Kaito was, she tapped him on the back (for she couldn't reach his shoulder) and said, "Is something wrong?"

Kaito glanced over his shoulder when Sakura tapped it, to make sure that Conan and the thing he had on his plate hadn't followed him. When he saw that it hadn't, he breathed a sigh of relief and smiled at Sakura. "Of course not!" he said cheerfully, "I just wanted to sit over here instead."

Yaiba: HA! You fear my sword.

"Hoeeee~ Why is that?" Sakura asked, bobbing her head to the right. Of course Conan was going to watch, if you could see him, you would also be able to see his glasses, zooming in to see the conversation. He had also put a tap on Sakura in order to listen. Not that Sakura actually minded.

Kaito shrugged. "It's nicer over here!" he said sincerely.

There was no way he was going to admit he had a fear of fish.

"Ehehehe, oh, I see!" Sakura laughed a bit, smiling. "So, what are you eating?"

Kaito turned back to where his sandwich was just moments earlier. He had finished it, though. "A turkey sandwich," he said with a shrug. She scooped up his carton of chocolate milk and sipped from it, one eyebrow quirked at Sakura. "And chocolate milk!"
