Hisoka gave a half-smile looking at the "puppy." He'd bought the ears and nose for Tsuzuki from the school store, and had resigned himself to buying a plastic handled jack-o-lantern and just wearing his orange shirt. If anyone offered him that disgustingly sweet stuff called "candy" he could accept it and drop it in the container when they weren't looking. Tsuzuki would want it, at any rate.

It was a good thing you could send physical mail to and from this place--they'd been sent their pay (little as it was) in that matter a couple days ago. Of course the sugar-addicted idiot had spent most of his, but that's why it was good Hisoka rarely bothered to spend his. If he could get books from the libary and free meals in the cafeteria, he could save his money for times like these. And he'd never admit it, but it made him happy to spend it on Tsuzuki. If the other could remain cheerful from it, even for those precious moments...

...there was so little he could do. Or rather, that Tsuzuki would let him do. Even when Hisoka knew damned WELL there was so much more kept deep inside, tormenting those purple eyes when no one was watching. Damned idiot.

The smile turned into a smirk. "You look exactly the same as if I'd set a plate of sweets in front of you. The costume is just a visual aid for someone who doesn't know you." 'Like I do...'

Tsuzuki chuckled. Hisoka was right about that. Sweets were his all time favorite... well besides his partner of course. No one or thing was more important than that. Hisoka had saved him... saved him from what he would have done to himself. He owed him everything.

His smile and bright demenor belied his thoughts as he stood to attach his tail. Though he knew Hisoka could usually tell when he was in an odd mood, even though he'd learned to keep his emotions and thoughts barred from Hisoka if need be, most of the time he didn't bother. Hisoka was his partner, and he should know everything right?

"So you're a... a pumpkin?" Tsuzuki asked, just making sure. Really nether of them had tried to dress up much, but with little money there wasn't much they could do costume wise. Tsuzuki just hoped that no one was dressed as a doctor... he shivered thinking of that, since it only led him to think of the one person he didn't want to think about.

Hisoka shrugged. "Close enough. I don't intend to talk to anyone long enough to have to describe my clothes in detail. I only wanted us to go because of the spirits that woman said would come."

He looked at Tsuzuki warily. "You DID test to see if you could summon one of your shikigami, right?"

Tsuzuki blinked, and then rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.

"Ah, hahaha... no." he glanced down at the floor, ready to feel the wrath of Hisoka. He was sure he'd earn a nice loud 'BAKA' for this. He hadn't even thought of it actually. Sometimes he knew he deserved being called an idiot.

Hisoka squeezed his eyes shut and counted to 10 in his head. It wouldn't do any good to yell at him now and ruin Tsuzuki's good mood, and he could yell at him later. When they FINALLY got around to seeing if the shikigami could be called...if they didn't find out that night, anyway.

He opened his eyes and just looked at Tsuzuki. "You'd better have a lot of 'fuda then. I made a lot of both offensive and defensive because it's my primary magic, but we can't rely on them being able to get here."

Tsuzuki looked up and a smile slowly spread across his face when Hisoka didn't tear his head off, and call him an idiot. Snapping on his dog nose, Tsuzuki nodded.

"Of course! I always have those on me. Can't be unprepared, you never know what could happen." Tsuzuki said matter of factly. Even though he'd let Hisoka down with not knowing if his Shikigami worked in this place, he had faith they did, he was proud of himself for at least be ready in one way.

Heh. He'd never admit it, but it was that smile Hisoka was always striving to improve himself for. To protect that smile, so it could shine without being forced or being a lie. To take on more of the burden Tsuzuki felt when he killed...because Hisoka was too weak to kill.

To make sure Muraki would never touch a hair on Tsuzuki ever again.
He'd do anything.

Hisoka just nodded. "Are you ready to go?"

Nodding back at him, looking kind of foolish in his ears, tail, and nose, Tsuzuki held his hand up in a thumbs up sign.

"Ready!" Tsuzuki pipped happily, like always. Or he always tried to be that way. He didn't want anyone, especially Hisoka to worry about him.

Hisoka flashed an approving look and grabbed his things. Tsuzuki bounced out the door and Hisoka locked it behind them. He turned to look at Tsuzuki. "Okay, let's go."
