[The Matrix] FILK: "You've Got a Friend" -- Matrix style

Aug 26, 2004 17:42

Filker's Note: Got this idea from my wacky friend Mark when we were driving to see "The Matrix: Revolutions" at a local IMAX theatre and James Taylor's "You've Got A Friend" was on the CD player, so Mark started changing the words, sort of "Matriculating" them. So, this one's for you, Mark! (Also, special thanks goes out to "Lady Smith" for helping me with one sticky line I got stuck on.)

Disclaimer: I don't own the words to "You've Got a Friend", which belong to James Taylor. I don't own "The Matrix" either, which belongs to the Brothers W (Wachowski and Warner), Joel Silver Pictures, Village Roadshow, etc.

When you're stuck in the Matrix
and you need an exit fast
and nothing whoa nothing is going right.
Just grab your phone and call the Neb
and soon I will be there
to save you from those Agents.

You just call to the Neb
and you know whereever I am
I'll come running oh yeah baby
to save you again.
Nuclear winter and all
all you have to do is call
and I'll be there yeah yeah yeah.
You've got a friend.

If the sky above you
should turn scorched and full of smoke
and that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
and soon I will be scanning for your pod.

You just call to the Neb
and you know where ever I am
I'll come running to save you again.
Nuclear winter and all
all you got to do is call
and I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Hey, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend?
Programs can be so cold.
They'll corrupt you and hurt you.
Well they'll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but don't you let them.

You just call to the Neb and you know wherever I am
I'll come running to save you again.
Oh babe, don't you know that,
Nuclear winter and all,
Hey now, all you've got to do is call.
Lord, I'll be there, yes I will.
You've got a friend.
You've got a friend.
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend.
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend.
You've got a friend.
