Author's Note: Written for comment_fic's Castle, Castle/Beckett, when Castle finds out that Beckett is a vampire, he starts to write fantasy books

The headline of the Arts & Entertainment section of the paper pulled Beckett right out of her lunchtime reverie and it was the sort of thing that made her fume, the next time Castle showed his face at a crime scene.

And sure enough, he was there that evening, when a call came that brought them both to the alley behind Forbidden Planet, in the heart of the Village.

"Funny we got called out here after I announced a change of genre," Castle said, arriving with coffee. "Between this and reading the Chronicles of Narnia when I was getting over the flu when I was eight, that's how I got into fantasy."

Beckett, who'd been kneeling over a body minus its head and its hands, stood up to eye Castle. "I'm glad to hear you've got fond memories of this place: sorry that my murder investigation spoiled it for you," she said, with a hint of sarcasm.

Castle cocked his head. "Are you snippy because you need a top-off besides coffee? We can take this aside: I'll let you bite me --"

"Castle. I am *not* that kind of vampire," she snapped. "I don't need to drink blood, and right now, I wouldn't drink yours if you were the last man on earth. I am an energy feeder. And I don't feed when I'm angry. Like right now."

"Is this about my new book?" he asked, innocently.

"It's all about your new genre."

He blinked and looked around. "Did I blow your cover in the Masquerade? Is the Carmarilla or the Volturi going come down on us because I started writing urban fantasy?"

"No. It doesn't work that way. But if people knew what I am, my credibility would be shot to hell."

"I'll revise the book: I'll make the main character a male vampire --"

"Please call it a man: I'm still human, even if my feeding needs are a little different from most people's," she replied.

"I'll get on it, as soon as we're done here," he promised. Then he added, "But my offer still stands, if you need to nosh on me."

"I get what I need from sweating perps and sparring with my trainer," she replied, patiently. She was tempted to take a bite out of his energy field to teach him a lesson, but she told herself to save that for another time, when she felt calmer and Castle was being less of a fanboy.
