Notable recent events in no particular order:-Didn't get elected NVPE of Psi. I'm ok with that - the person that was reelected will do a good job, and I'll kick her butt if she doesn't ( Read more... )

I had meant to talk briefly to you about the NVPE election, but never got a chance. I'm glad to see no bitterness harbored (even though I was expecting that reaction anyway) and appreciate that you're taking it all in stride...I wish more candidates were able to react that way. I think you were a fine candidate and it was one of those elections where no matter who's elected, the fraternity wins.

Is that seriously a frequent problem? *makes sad face* That's just unfortunate.

More frequent than you'd think. I won't say it happens all the time, but it's unavoidable that the occasional individual will take an election loss as an indictment of their competency, popularity, or both. I've been trying to explain for years that elections (for me, anyway) are not about telling the loser they're not worthy--they're about finding the right match at the right time.

And FWIW, we've elected some real stinkers to office over the last 12-13 years. So it's not like the fraternity gets it right every time.

I think I know a few that you're referring to. I admit, I was a bit hurt when I lost the NVPCM election at Xi Convention, but in the end it must be about the Fraternity and not personal pride.

Well, I know I could do the job if needed, and I could do it well with help from the rest of the Fraternity. Just the same, it doesn't bother me to have Sarah stay on as NVPE - she'll have more time than I will, and she does have somewhat more experience working with the current NOs.

And yeah, if I really had no faith in either candidate, I would have campaigned much more :-)
