Sledding

Today was a meh day. Went to the Fire Hall and took measurements there, did some college apps, helped Dave round up the Carny stuff. Not particularly exciting.

Tonight though - I went to the Sledding rush, and realized why I've lived in the UP for 5 1/2 years of my life. The sky was absolutely magnificent tonight in Calumet. It's perfectly clear, with huge numbers of stars twinkling like sequins on a vast black cloak. (sorry, forgive my poor metaphor.) The air had a bite to it, but not enough to discourage the 20 or so of us from taking multiple trips down Swedetown Hill on saucers, plastic long sleds, tubes, and those flexible roll-up sleds that don't really work well but are still a blast to sled on. No one was complaining, everyone was happy - well, except when Dirk got hit in the head by a flying Katie :-[ - it was exactly what we and I needed after the ridiculousness of Winter Carnival.

I really should go take a picture of the night sky, but it wouldn't do it justice.
