This is my tenth blog of 2008 and I find myself scurrying frantically each night to come up with topics to write about. My creative side comes out at night which explains why I do the majority of my creative work at this hour. But to actually put down words in a semi-meaningful way with less than hour until my self-imposed midnight comes along, is a lot harder to do than I thought. This was supposed to be daily exercise for me to improve my writing skills, but so far, it's been me working at home then realizing late at night that I didn't write my daily blog.
So that takes us to where I'm at right now - sitting in front of this laptop, torn between going back to my work or continue to type my thoughts away. And to tell you the truth, I would rather much do the former.
Ok, I'll compromise. I'll write about what I'm working on right now. I have been creating Myspace profiles for our clients the last several months. Some of our clients are music artists who need more exposure and what better way for a new artist to get notice today than on Myspace? We have a platform that sends friend requests to people who are fans of similar artists. These campaigns have worked out really well, getting thousands of people to at least come onto their pages to give their songs a listen.
Another client wanted to get more people to their website so I created 10 profiles on Myspace to look like microsites. They want us to add people to the profiles and then ask them to sign up on their website to upload content for their monthly contests. So we created 10 pages on Myspace that represented 10 of the largest cities in this country and targeted musicians and filmmakers of those metropolitans. Here's one of the pages
Ourstage Los Angeles For their recent campaign though, I had to create 20 more profiles to get more traffic onto their site.
Even though people say Myspace sucks, it's still a great avenue for musicians, filmmakers, and companies to get their name out. And it's relatively cheap to get the traffic that you want. I, on the other hand, don't really go on Myspace much anymore because I stare at it all day and night when I work on our clients' profiles. I'm more of a Facebook guy than I am Myspace, but as a whole, I am getting pretty tired of the social network platform. Though, I can't wait until the lovechild of Myspace and Facebook is brought into our internet world. Myspacebook!
You know what? To save you all from more boring posts like these, I think I am going to start writing earlier in the day. I just re-read this crap and even I feel nauseated. A thousand apologies.
And no, I will not give back the 5 minutes that you lost while reading this.
