54 Weeks

It's been 54 weeks since my last post (confession?). Ran 8+ miles today. It made me feel so good I think I'll run again tomorrow.

We bought a new Wii game today. Wall*e. Fun so far.

Tomorrow is a study day after I run. I'm taking an Estate Planning course. Very interesting stuff. Point of information for today:
1) Get an Advanced Read more... )

Congrats on your running, MG - still going strong, huh?

1) Get an Advanced health Care Directive (to pull the plug or not - ie. Do you want to be kept alive as a vegetable until everyone is in the poor house)
and
2) Get a Will (especially if you have kids).

Here the "Advanced Health Care Directive" is called something else - a mandate, I think - but yes, both that and having a will are very important! We learned that after Chris's parents died - they had absolutely everything, up to and including a plan they paid into 40 years ago to cover funeral costs, completely up-to-date wills and anything else you can think of, and it still was a hugely complicated affair to get everything taken care of. When we realized that, we immediately saw a notary to get all of those documents for ourselves, and we're much more relaxed for having done so!

Thanks. Ran again this morning. I had an opportunity to run in what they call a Prediction run (you leave your watch behind, predict when you'll finish a specific distance, and whoever's closest wins). I didn't go but when I ran I didn't look at my watch until I hit 4 miles (which is the distance I would have picked for today). I was deadnuts perfect on my predict. Scary.

Glad Chris's parents had the docs and the planning. Deaths are always tramatic and dealing with the legal aspects without instructions.... adding additional torment.

Thanks. I'm still getting use to the idea which is truly weird since we've been together 20 years on the 4th.

I'm going to have to get use to wearing a ring. In the past, anytime I'd wear a ring after about 20 minutes I'd hand it to FR to wear. I don't think that will be appropriate for this ring.
