The finish line is almost upon me, but I'm just... not.... there...
Yet.
I've got to do two extra rows of "half shingles" (where I slice the shingles lengthwise so they'll fit snugly along the top of the roof) and then I can put the top row on. I did get some help today from my son, who nailed the shingles in place while I held the nail. That was kind of nerve wracking, but he didn't hit my finger. (I was the one who did that to myself. Urg.)
Anyway, our youngest had a birthday, and we were over at my folks tonight. She'd gotten Uno as a present, and
lmlawson , my mom, my oldest, and my youngest were playing. My youngest had gotten down to one card, and she proudly shouted "Uno!"
She was so excited to get a chance to win that when her turn came and she was forced to draw a card, she was bummed. But lo and behold, she drew a card she could play.
So she did.
And I waited a moment.
When nothing was forthcoming, I leaned over her shoulder. "What do you say?" I prompted.
"Thank you?" she said, puzzled.
