On LJ Slowness
When LJ has those really slow days or cyber attacks, I wonder why they've never bothered to isolate the Russian LJ from the rest of their environment. It would seem the simplest thing to create a separate gateway and IP entry into their environment for Russian LJ entries, but it does require enough duplicate equipment that they may not decide it's financially worth it. However, all of the people I know who are moving to Dreamwidth --or left LJ entirely-- are demonstrating that maybe it's a better idea to separate the IP paths sooner rather than later.
