The landlord from the first place we lived in, back in Connecticut, kept a small garden in his backyard. He had concord grape vines because he bottled his own wine, and he'd sometimes give us surplus grapes. They were tart and powerfully flavored, and while they were certainly something of an acquired taste after growing up on anemic seedless grapes, I've never had anything before or since quite like it.
