These are a few of my favourite zings.

First, a plea to the collected wisdom of the people who read:

I am looking to bring a few handfuls of buttons to MileHiCon this year to promote my Portal Doctor site. Anyone have any recommendations as to a source of quality and good pricing on relatively small quantities of small buttons?

Yeah, I'll probably cross-post that to Facebook, too. Sadly, I have some non-repeating readers there.

Oh, and recommendations on quotes to include are appreciated.

Second, I'm perturbed.

Finished the third book in a row with a female protagonist who does not understand volition. The last three books all have female authors, which is what probably disappoints me the most. (Well, two of the three were written by the same author, but they were very different works.) (The books I read before it had female protagonists who knew all about making tough decisions, but they were written by a man.)

The first one started out with a good potential because, hey, werewolves. Turned out to be such a wimpy werewolf that the wimpy werewolves of the wimpiest werewolf packs would pee on her.

If you know what I mean.

How do you write a wimpy WEREWOLF for lycanthropy's sake? That's not a wolf, that's a beagle that's been badly beaten, which just makes me weep.

Argh.

The second and third books both had women who were swept up by fate. The first really, literally, could not break out of repeating her own story. The second book mistook sacrifice out of desperation to break the cycle to be the same as volition.

Um, it isn't. In case for a minute a few of you were wondering. (Looks suspiciously at the audience.)

Strongly considering not reading the rest of the books in the series even if they're written about men. They're from the library. I could just return them unread.

Hah.

Thirdly, one is only allowed one break-up a week. Yeah, it's getting close to our anniversary again. What makes this the season most likely to make me want to walk off and say, "We may love each other with an intensity that makes the heat of Antares seem like Fimbulwinter, but I'm ready to leave because I can't handle all the mortal bits?"

Luckily, (hah!) I'm in the midst of another break-up, so I'm waiting for my mind to clear from that one before I decide on the next.

Fourthly... work is crazy. At least I'm busy, eh? We're hiring for maintenance technicians, someone who knows housing program compliance, an apartment manager with experience in the old Public Housing program, and a voucher/section 8 specialist. Anyone looking for a job in that arena, e-mail me for details.

Fifthly... Go tell someone you love that you love them. Just do it. Don't wait.
