I just watched the confidential for 'Journey's End' and I think I finally have a finger on why the scene at Bad Wolf Bay is still bothering me. In 'Journey's End', we see Rose wanting to stay with Ten, then after Ten point five (10.5) whispers what we would presume is the rare and elusive 'I love you' in Rose's ear, she totally plants one on him (10.5), then goes quickly back to wanting to stay with Ten. Ten's reaction to this is perfectly in character - he is devastated, of course, but desperately wants Rose to accept the gift he's given her - a version of himself that can have a life with her. Again, he sacrifices his potential happy ending for her, as he wouldn't be able to have a life with and grow old with her. Rose's reaction is a bit problematic - her sudden snog of 10.5 is seemingly out-of-place and jarring, as she's still wanting to stay with Ten and is having difficulty accepting 10.5.

Then you watch the confidential - and you feel absolutely robbed! The filming footage of the scene gives it a totally different feel - instead of just the Rose-initiated kiss that we see in 'Journey's End', 10.5 kisses her back passionately. Very passionately. I respect the director's choice in the shots selected and how he chose to tell that scene, but I don't think I'd be nearly so upset with it if instead of Rose initiating the kiss, you have 10.5 initiate it and have her respond to him instead. Sort of like the start of an uncertain partnership instead of what just seems like a kiss for show. Just my two cents.

I'm not even going to start in on poor Donna. I suppose her fate was sealed when she said she wanted to travel with the Doctor forever.

And am I the only one who thought Valeyard! when 10.5 charged out of the TARDIS?

One more little thing - how does Ten's hand get all the memories that the current Ten has when it was cut off in TCI? Is this another unique property we can attribute to 'regenerative energy' (aka artron *grins*)?
