The first is shortly after coming home. Note the bloating. Very attractive! I looked about 5 months pregnant. Now to explain what you are seeing. Staples of course. Scabs. Lots of tape goo. The dot above the incision is where the pain ball was. A pain ball is a pouch with a plastic ball in it and some nerve deadening drugs. Thin tubes run from the pouch and under my skin lying atop my stomach muscles. It periodically would bathe the surgical area with the drugs to keep me comfortable. I don't understand the purpose of the ball inside the pouch. It added nothing to the aesthetic of the pouch. The staples did add just a bit of sparkle to an otherwise dreary and boring incision.
The second is after the bandages were removed yesterday. Nice pink scar tissue, lots of dry skin, and still have some of the surgical glue stuck on. Janet had to censor where the camera dipped just a tad too low. No bloat, but you can see my ribs poke out a bit. I have a divot that is supposed to be my navel. I used to have a pretty nice navel. My new one is so deep, getting lint out is going to be a chore. You can still see where the staples were. I think those marks might fade a bit, but not the incision obviously.
I go to see Human Resources today to pay back money I owe the school as they decided to pay me even though I wasn't working.
I will also see my oncologist to find out how I went from cancer free to not so cancer free. She will be taught a lesson on how to communicate with me while I am there. If she can't learn that lesson, I will find another doctor.
On the bright side, Balloon Fiesta will be here in just 3 weeks! I am already half giddy with excitement. I hope I can get to see at least some of it.
