Like father, like son....or is he?

Much to my mother's chagrin, my daughter was not the hellion that she wished upon me as vengeance for my childhood. The Kid is a well-behaved, sweet child, and was a near-perfect baby. She's a little bull-headed and a lot spoiled, but overall, she has her father's calm and laid-back personality.

I was pretty pleased to not end up with a kid like everyone said I would have (ala me). Maybe I was too smug about it.

That's probably why God decided to give me a double whammy: a child like me, only in the form of a boy.

This child is stubborn. He's picky and he's fussy and he can hold his own in the "World's Loudest Scream" category. At seven weeks, his likes and dislikes are clearly defined. He likes: being naked and eating. His dislikes: the car, his car seat, being put down for any reason, hunger, and me sleeping.

Now, personally, I can relate to being hungry, as well as being naked (my feet, people), but he has to eventually let his little tush hit the ground. My arms can't take anymore. Normal babies are about 9 lbs. at this point. THEIR parents are given a chance to build up their arm muscles and slowly adjust to a ginourmous baby. I had one week.

I would love an opportunity to blame it on his Dad, but according to the MIL, Dad never had a tantrum. Ever. Since I haven't seen one in the years we've been together, I'm beginning to believe her. It looks like while he's a physical clone of his father, we're in for a plethora of surprises when it comes to personality.

I am glad to finally have pinpointed the problem child in my life. Hopefully, this means that if we go for round three, we'll luck out with another child like The Kid.

Despite it all, I still adore him. How could you not?
