Daisy has been restored to freedom. We had actually brought the cage inside to the craft room the first night because I didn't think I could keep her warm enough outside. She didn't mind. She made not a single complaint, and when I would go in to change her water and check on her, she didn't try to get out but would simply flop over on her side for scritching and purring.

While she was still inside, I took apart the den on the patio, cleaned it with bleach, and reassembled it with clean bedding.

Since being released she has essentially stayed on the patio or in the den. I think she wouldn't mind being an inside cat, but first she needed to reconnect with the yearlings (they were looking for her while she was gone) and overcome Milo's territoriality/jealousy. Baby steps.

Anyway, Ivan came up this evening, found her, and went to the other end of the patio to announce "MEOWMEOWMEOWMEOWMEOWMEOWMEOW...!!" Dude, take a breath. Daisy peeked out of the den at him, looked at me like WTF? and went back inside to her nap. I assume Ivan was hollering for Cricket ("MOM'S HOME! MOM'S HOME!") because she came up shortly afterward.

Meanwhile, during the week's rain storms, Milo couldn't decide between hiding in the cupboard (he's afraid of wind and rain) or staying near my feet. He decided on a compromise - he pulled down my fleece jacket from the back of a nearby chair and crawled inside. He's hiding in the dark AND he's near Mom. With bonus Mom-smell on the fabric. First there was just a paw tip visible; then as he got hotter, he poked his head and one arm out. Then he progressed to curling on top of it on the floor. Every time I've hung it back up, he wails and howls until it's on the floor again so he can sleep on it or in it, depending on the weather. ~sigh~ Well, it needed to be cleaned before it was ready for next winter anyway...
