Tools of the Trade

I knit. I wouldn’t call myself an expert; I’ve only been at it since 2009, complete with a yearlong hiatus that I’ve just pulled out of. If you were to ask me what level I would describe myself at I would say advanced beginner. I can make beanies, scarves, Afghans and other kinds of throws/blankets with a variety of stitch patterns. I’m not quite up to socks, mittens or sweaters yet. Maybe someday.

A tool that is very useful to any knitter is a row/stitch counter. This little clicker works so much better than trying to keep tallies on a scratch pad or, heaven forbid, your head. The rhythm of knitting using a counter is very comforting: knit a row, click, knit a row, click etc., along with the very tangible affirmation of seeing how much is being accomplished.

I’m inspired - I think I’ll go do some more work on the baby blanket.
