Hecklers
I don't go to concerts very often. I just don't like crowds. I don't mind performing in front of them, no biggee. It's being IN them that makes me claustrophobic. I've been to three concerts in my entire life. All of them were Sting/Police. So, I have to REALLY like an act to brave the stupid mob.
I woke up this morning, way early. I couldn't get back to sleep because I was so pissed about a show I had attended when I was 23. YEARS AGO. It was a Howie Mandel Stand Up Comedy Show. Las Cruces, NM. There was this bitch in the audience who wouldn't shut up. I'm pissed at myself, now, today, for not having stood up and told the bitch to shut up. This is what is keeping me awake. I can't believe this. I think of the bystander effect. The crowd just sat there. Uncomfortable. Tense. Silent. Howie ignored her and tried to continue his act while she screamed "I wanna have your baby!" I wanted to get up and slit the bitches' throat. I paid $24 to listen to Howie, not her.
I lie in bed and daydream of inciting a riot. I start cheering "SHUT THE BITCH UP!"; "SHUT THE BITCH UP!", and the crowd joins me, and we all go bonkers and lynch her. Then we go back, listen to Howie's act, and laugh, like nothing out of the ordinary happened. Oh, if we all had spines. This world would be a different place.
I really liked Howie Mandel. He made voice overs for this educational CDRom PC game. It was my sons' favorite game growing up. He said all these catchy things, quoted Roosevelt: "There is nothing to fear, but fear itself". Howie's a good guy.
Apparently, according to my friend robomarkov, Robin Williams is the god of shutting up hecklers. He gets the crowd to laugh at the heckler. The heckler ends up going home crying, and the show doesn't get ruined. Don Rickles also has the ability to get rid of hecklers. I just wish there was a clasue where security could take you out of a show if you heckled. I mean, they can taze you for speaking up and asking annoying questions at town meetings with politicians. Why can't they taze hecklers?
Hecklers. Trolls. Parasites. The world would be so much better without them. Let the bottom feeders feed off each other.
