Après-Birthday

Hey all,

So I had a nice birthday. On my actual birthday, I had a small party with my friends, Linda, Joe, and Tai. We had chocolate cake with chocolate icing and ice cream. We hung out, talked, and watch Airplane! Though there was no Carvel ice cream cake, it was still a good birthday. The day after my birthday, my youth deepening celebrated my birthday with cake for me. It was very cute. For my birthday Linda made me a shell necklace, Joe got me a nine-pointed star necklace, and Tai gave me a lovely selection of teas. I also got a kitty for my birthday!!!!! Technically, my new cat, KK, wasn't actually a birthday present. Mark and Sarah, the temple managers, are moving back to America, so they needed someone to give the cat to and I said I'd take the little fluffer. They gave the kitty to me unintetionally on my birthday, though it is nice to say that I got a kitty for my birthday. She's adorable and likes to cuddle and curl up on my lap (especially while I'm on the internet, like now).

In addition to birthday parties, I also received lots of birthday emails and ecards from all around the world. Thanks to all those who sent me stuff. It made me feel loved. :)

Now it’s September, thought it doesn’t feel like it at all because the two key September-identifying factors are missing. 1) Cool weather and 2) School Starts. Considering there is perma-summer here and I’m not going to school, I don’t know if it will ever feel like September. I suppose when the rainy season starts I’ll recognize the passage of time. Well I might as well enjoy the dry summery weather while I can.

Over the past two weeks, I’ve been sick. :( It stinks cause normally I get sick, I’m in bed for a couple of days, then get better. This has been a weird lingering half-sick. It’s like not enough to miss work, but just enough to feel like I’m dragging along. Boooo. I’m trying to get lots of sleep and drink lots of water and eat vegetables and vitamins. And do all the other health stuff to try to get better. Grrr. Hopefully I’ll feel better soon.

Now it’s Teuila Festival, so that’s exciting. Teuila Festival is like a week-long holiday, kind of like Carnevale. There’s parades and music and dancing and that sort of thing. So far I’ve been too sick (and rideless) to go downtown, but I’m hoping to go on Friday. Also, Linda and I are going to the tiny island of Manono for her second-to-last weekend here. I’ll miss her so much. Anyway that’s the news for Samoa!

Love you guys!
