I watch the lj community food_porn. One of the entries was about a simple dinner...
"Years ago, I'd had this dish while the guest of a Hmong family....That I didn't think to try this again -and, even then, only as a way to handle leftovers- is a shame. What I did was simple: I had a stir-fry with some chicken meat, tonight, and served it with some short grain, sticky rice. But, wait: that's not the simple dish I was speaking of. No, it's simpler than that. I had rice left over in the pot after dinner. There was too little to really do anything with but it was good and I didn't want to waste it.
Then I remembered that meal.
Just a tiny drizzle of Dark Soy Sauce over the sticky, white rice," My internal response was, "What? That's it? A post about rice and soy sauce?" It was very amusing to me. My senior year of HS, I swear I had rice and a fried chicken breast 5 days a week before I went to work. I was really interested in this idea, especially coming from a food comm and it's was something that was a fundemental part of my diet growing up.
(I can't find the rice I like here and I can overeat some rice...)
