:: I haven't posted in the past couple of days simply because my mind had exploded from the excessive awesomeness brought to us by Wednesday's TCR episode. Stephen's guest was none other that his former 'Daily Show' colleague and friend from Chicago's legendary
Second City, Steve Carell! I love how they've been
good friends and coworkers for so many years! The episode opened with Steve taking over for Stephen with
'The Carell Corral'! Yiiihaaaa! The interview was mind-blowingly awesome. They offered us a blast from the past when they reprized their notorious
'Even Stevphen' argument segment (must watch!) where they delve in their mutual hatred for each other. So many great lines! Needless to say, I've been watching that interview at least twice a day! Can't get enough of it! And the best part? Jon also makes an appearance! I love Steve and Stephen's reaction when the see him on the big screen. It's like watching two little boys having to explain themselves to their father!
You MUST watch this interview! :: Speaking of Steve Carell, he just
confirmed that he will finally be leaving 'The Office'. Such a shame. I love his role as Michael Scott, even though if I actually knew someone like that in real life I'd probably punch them out. It's too bad he never won an Emmy for his portrayal. Hilarious. NBC will be having some serious problems when two of it's shows biggest stars leave. Yup. Two. Steve is leaving, but so is Alec Baldwin from '30 Rock'.
He confirmed it a couple of days ago. NBC is considering continuing the shows, but I think it'll be a waste of time. Their characters are the heart of their respective shows and basically hold them together. It'll be very disappointing if the shows continue without them and then flop.
:: 'The Office' and '30 Rock' are still on the air, which means they are still eligible for
Emmys. Both shows were nominated and '30 Rock' got 15 nominations, 'The Daily Show' and 'The Colbert Report' both snagged 3 and 'The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien' got 4!! Woohoo! SUCK ON THAT LENO! I'm also really happy Jim Parsons got nominated. I don't think he'll win, but it's a huge honour for this adorable up-and-coming actor. Surprised 'Community' wasn't nominated but a show called 'Nurse Jackie' was. What the hell is that?? Does anyone even watch it?! The bad thing about this year's award show, is that it's hosted by Jimmy Fallon. O_o Good lord. How are we supposed to endure 2-3 hours of pushy jokes and lame schticks?? I just hope there's an appearance by the boys this year -Jon and Stephen. Their absence last year really put a damper to the whole show imo. Their jokes are always
the highlight of the evening! :: I can't understand what's been going on these past couple of days, and people keep attacking big comedy shows. First 'The Daily Show' staff was
accused of being sexist and now Huffington Post journalist Zeeshan Aleem has written an article
accusing '30 Rock' of being racist. I can't say I agree with his article. '30 Rock' uses stereotypical characters, but I can't see how he thought it's racist. I think both authors are just trying to ride these shows' coattails. Sad. I can't see why people would think that TDS is sexist, simply because it doesn't have a lot of female staff members. I've come to see that women tend to be more reserved in their writing, so it's only natural that there would be more male writers in comedy -which is a profession taht shouldn't have any boundaries. The women of TDS have
issued a response and so has former DS writer Rachel Axler.
Her response sure made things quite clear. As for '30 Rock', the jokes are hardly racist. C'mon. Aleem should see a doctor for his broken funny bone. Ha.
