Why do I even bother following the results of award shows? They always seem to suck. I started watching the Red Carpet pre-show of the Golden Globes and was immediately annoyed by the stupid reporters/presenters, whatever they call themselves. A bunch of idiots asking inane and repetitive questions most of which focused on what designer the celebrities are wearing and how soaked or bothered are they by the rain. Of course they're bothered! They're wearing thousands of dollars worth of clothing and you, dumbass, are stalling them from getting inside by asking them about the weather! Jeez.
I got so annoyed I stopped watching. I actually had no intention of watching, what with boycotting NBC and all, but still followed up a bit via Twitter updates. I only got to the results today. 'Avatar' snagged some awards, no surprise there, Meryl Streep and Robert Downey Jr. both left with one as well.
My big shock was Best Comedy Show. 'Glee'?! GLEE?? ARE THEY FUCKING INSANE??? The only thing I like about that show is that it has some pretty cool songs. It's definitely not award worthy material. As I've said before, the story-lines are predictable and the writing mediocre. How could it beat '30 Rock'?! Anyway. Toni Colette won again over Tina so that was another bummer. Alec won to no ones surprise but what were all those barbs against him about? Dunno.
I really am not going bother watching them. I'm not particularly fond of Ricky Gervais (though I did like him in 'Extras') mainly because he can't let the whole Steve Carell thing go. It's like he can't think of anything new to say and keeps reiterating jokes that are way past their expiration date. All the NBC comments were, quite frankly, expected.
But seriously. GLEE???
