Just Another Day
For some reason the weather has been changing constantly here. Today we had lots of rain and frightful winds that made my dog hide in the closet out of fear! As you may have surmised, she's not much of a guard dog...And to top off that off I'm PMSing and I'm very irritable. Urgh.
At least I have my books to console me. I've been reading this book called "Panic Attacks: Media Manipulation and Mass Delusion" which is cool. It discusses the various hoaxes that have been played on the radio etc. and how the media effects the populations psyche. Pretty interesting. Also discusses extensively the 1938 "War of the Worlds' hoax played by Orson Welles. Other than that I've been reading Vera Lynn's "We'll Meet Again". I have a slight (<--understatement) obsession with the war and since it's Remembrance Day tomorrow I thought I'd read it. Today I also started Mike's Diaries and I find them thoroughly amusing! Yes, it talks a lot about business meetings and doctor appointments, but what I enjoy more are the small details like 'I took my son on a picnic'. For some reason I think we forget that celebrities are normal people too and do normal people stuff. This is why I found John Cleese babysitting and George Harrison mending his fence extremely amusing!
Today also marks the 40th Anniversary of Sesame Street! Ah! Who hasn't grown up on 'The Street'?? I used to love Big Bird as a kid and the Cookie Monster! I remember I used to have Sesame Street bed covers! I really don't understand the appeal Elmo has on kids today however. I find him EXTREMELY annoying. Anyhoo. I think I'm going to go read some more. The only remedy for a rainy night. That and watching Python dvd's! ;)
