It's Folklife weekend and I have never missed Aspen so much. This has always been our special time - four days of wonderful music and dance and four days of hanging out with my beautiful daughter. Folklife is one of two things that really bonds Aspen and I (the other being castles). We like the same music (although to be honest, her music taste exceeds mine), the same art and crafts, with enough variety for a lot of fun shopping (unfortunately, never enough money), and the same foods (Folklife food - all of it!). At least she'll be home for Gig Harbor this year!
Meghan is doing her best to fill in, she's going everywhere with me, eating with me (well no meat), and listening to what I want, but it just isn't the same. I love Meghan for trying to fill in, she is a sweetheart.
Hannah got home late last night after many plane delays both in Portland and Chicago. I had her wake me up when she go in and got a real nice Hannah hug. It's so nice to know she's sleeping upstairs. We're letting her sleep in today, but she's promised me a whole day, just her and me (and Meghan) at Folklife. I'm excited to be able to spend a whole day with her. She won't enjoy the music, most of the shopping or much of the day, but too bad, she promised! GOD I HATE MY EMPTY NEST!
Last weekend's dog show was wonderful. Sat. wasn't so good, but Sunday was wonderful. M won best of winners and best of opposite for her second major and 4 more points. She now has both her majors and 8 points toward her Championship, both before she turns one, only 7 points to go. I'm sure proud of her! Loki, on the other hand was a complete jerk. Diane had to show him on Sunday, 'cause I had to take M in the ring at the same time - he growled at the judge the whole time! A kind of friendly growl, but we really have to get him to stop that, or he will be done showing.
The house is progressing - at least the permit process has begun. I am really getting excited, we have a preliminary plan for the house, with a few exceptions it looks good to go. I am really excited. The hope is that it will be framed-in by the end of Nov. so they can work on the inside over the winter. It all depends on getting the permits.
Well, off to another delightful day at Folklife - it's raining - grrr. It doesn't stop us, just keeps out the casual crowds. The weather was wonderful yesterday and is supposed to be tomorrow, but it is pouring at the moment. We have Taiko drumming this morning inside, so hopefully it will stop raining by this afternoon when we're heading to NW Court for lots of Celtic (and the beer garden). Damn rain, time to get out the black garbage bags.
I miss my Aspen, but, hey, it is FOLKLIFE!
