RIP Steve Maycroft
I heard an old friend, Steve Maycroft of Muskegon died of an embolism Sunday. When I was first starting to get good at playing guitar, Steve was one of only two guitarists in town who were an ispiration to me, because of his incredible playing skill, his down to earth attitude, and his humilty. He approached guitar with reverence, but also with humor, and never got "cocky" the way so many male guitarists get.
The last time I saw him I sat in with his band at a bar in Muskegon, too long ago. It was a night to remember, cause afterwards he mentioned that I'd grown up and gotten pretty good when he wasn't looking.
Goodbye Steve. You'll be missed.
