Well, we got Jonathan all settled in at college this past Sunday. I had a few meltdowns leading up to the day, but surprisingly was ok when John and I left. He is on the third floor of his dorm, with no elevator! For him, that's good, having to carry all his stuff up the stairs, well, that proved a little tough. I was WINDED to say the least. :-) Sign of age and outta shape I suppose.
We waited in lines forever to get him registered with housing, personal trainer, who by the way gave him a shocked looked when she saw he already had three concussions in high school, and at least one cast for broken bones every year. He loves it though. Hurt'em and get'em off the field is his goal. To be such a loveable big old boy, he sure does know how to pound his enemies! LOL!
I haven't talked to Rachel since Sunday to see how she's doing. Her life is going to really change with big brother gone. I've had a few tearful moments over the last two days when talking to people about it. It still is so unreal. My baby boy is gone. I know, I know, it's just college. I just can't imagine life not seeing him all the time. Guess who'll be making road trips!?!
I had an interesting day yesterday. I had a visit with my doctor yesterday and was told my BP was elevated. Left there and picked up my books and parking for school, which starts next week.
On the way to work, I merged onto hwy 40 from the Durham Freeway, singing a song in my head and got to exit 278 and the car in front of me, in the fast lane, slammed on their brakes. I swerved to miss them, almost ramming the barrier in the middle of the median, swerved back on the highway and almost hit the car that had stopped in the middle of the fast lane in front of them, swerved back at the barrier and then, without killing myself, corrected and drove to work. I was so much in shock when I got to work that I forgot my fob in the car so I went back out to get it. Got distracted, walked back in to the building, and then had to walk back out, since I forgot the fob AGAIN.
The rest of the day was like this. Ugh!
The high point of Sunday, which I can't leave out, is that John surprised me with tickets to see Journey, Heart and Cheap Trick!!
After the longest line in history, we finally made it in and got our seats, which were perfect! We had a great view of the stage, except for the cow that just HAD to sit on the upper part of her seat since she was vertically and horizontally challenged. I almost went up and pushed her down, but I had a WWJD moment (that would be John, Jesus would've told her to sit her butt down in her seat! Nah! I know better! LOL!).
Cheap Trick was pretty much that. Heart came out next, and I swear, I could've listened to them ALL NIGHT LONG! Ann Wilson has the most incredible voice and they were just fantastic! Journey, was great, but too loud for me. I know, imagine that! John, who loves Heart, liked Journey the best. They did have a great light show and the little Pilipino buy that replaced Steve Perry sounds almost just like him, but as I said, it was loud. I left after their part not being able to hear. Heart, who was loud, was very well mixed, so it wasn't painful.
All in all, the concert was INCREDIBLE!! My man is the bestest!! ;-)
Well, back to work. Hope to see you all soon! My social life is about to become non-existent again after school starts.
Hugs!
