Absinthe in the Times

Nov 15, 2007 13:11

The New York Times has an excellent article on absinthe:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/12/arts/12conn.html?em&ex=1195189200&en=01512bf990575b73&ei=5087

Also in the liquor department, My wife has just gotten a hold of a bottle of Saint Germain:
http://www.stgermainelderflower.com/

St Germain is a liquer made from elderflower Blossoms. the taste:
sublime and sweet or as the web page states:
"Neither peach nor pear, lychee nor citrus, the sublime taste of St-Germain elderflower liqueur hints at each of these and yet none of them exactly. It is a flavor as subtle and delicate as it is captivating. A little like asking a hummingbird to describe the flavor of its favorite nectar.""

Very good addictive stuff indeed. Once We get hold of some Chartreuse we are going to try making a Elder Monk. the recipe calls for chartreuse, St germain and club soda, I think. I'll post it up if I can find it again

Last but not least
adventink is this you?
