Monday gripes...

Grrr. It's not been a good start to the day.

I was using an algorithms app this weekend as it's one of the many subjects related to programming that I need to brush up on. The first one discussed was Bubble Sort. I had seen it before, and decided it would be good practice to write a bit of java that does it.

Well, I have no problems with the theory of how such a bit of code would work. I can write pseudocode with the best of them. It's the actual application that reminds me quite painfully how little I really know, and makes me wonder if I'll ever really learn this well enough to be employed at all. And hence my extremely grumpy mood today.

We have a new Nordic Track elliptical machine arriving this afternoon. It is about to replace our morning trips to the pool, as our membership at Bannatyne's expires in a bit under two weeks. We are in agreement that we aren't going to miss the irritations of the gym (some due to other members and some due to how the place is run), and hopefully will get a little more useful time in the morning since we'll not have all that time wasted in commuting. I suppose it might have been an easier adjustment to make if we bought the machine in the spring than in the fall (it is being put in the garage so it will be a bit nippy going out there in the mornings very soon!) - but we'll adapt. We've been in the habit of early morning exercise Monday through Friday for two years now, and I'm very conscious of not wanting that to stop just because the routine is changing.

So much for this update. The delivery people have called and instead of arriving sometime between 4pm and 8pm, now they'll be here by 1:15pm. Mark is on his way home to meet them, but I am wondering if they'll have been here and gone by the time he arrives. :-)

Hope to get a few more useful things done before everyone else gets home, but I guess we'll see. Sometimes I don't think you can ask much of a Monday.

java, exercise
