And then it starts to snow.
They are deep in the jungle, five to six days away from the beach - Kate, Sawyer, Sayid and Locke, now walking pretty much blindly in search of a miracle. It comes, finally, in the form of small frozen flakes, putting out their fire and surrounding them in white darkness.
“... The hell?”, Sawyer mutters before anyone else can form a coherent thought. He shivers, as if making his point clear.
“So I am not the only one seeing this”, comments Sayid in his usual measured tone. He isn’t used to snow, much less in tropical islands. “It doesn’t make sense. Doesn’t make sense at all.”
“It wouldn’t be the first time something doesn’t seem to make sense in these last three months”, says Locke.
Hugging his arms, Sawyer chuckles sarcastically. “So what now? We wait for the polar bears?”

“No.” Kate’s voice startles the three men; they hadn’t heard it since their departure.
“Kate?” Locke approaches her. The other two think she has already gone crazy, but Locke knows better.
She’s looking up and ahead, at the mounds they had planned on reaching the next morning. Her eyes are firm, yet her voice comes out dreamy. “It’s Christmas night.”
As if on cue, the damaged walkie-talkie in Sayid’s belt bursts into stactic, and all of them recognize the nervous voice coming out of it. “Kate?”
