Secret Mutant Exchange 2015 - recs part 1

Dec 06, 2015 22:31

Maaan, my life is so crazy doing recs has been impossible, but I can't NOT do them for two fests - Secret Mutant and Merlin Holidays that starts posting on the 14th of Dec.

Now, I've only read like a handful of stories on Secret Mutant so far, and I wish I had more time to read and review them all while they are still anon, but let me share the love for the ones I've read so far!

Love, in fire and blood by Black_Betty
Erik/Charles | Words: 4263 | Explicit | Canon AU, D/s undertones

Summary: Erik used his body as a tool in all ways, but it had always been as a means for destruction. He did not know how to be soft or tender, and had never had use for gentleness before.
Until Charles.
(AKA Erik is too afraid of hurting Charles to let him try anything, but Charles persists, as he does.)

Why I rec: THIS IS A GIFT FOR ME and it couldn't be better. Like: IT'S THE BEST GIFT POSSIBLE. As if the author actually went into my head Professor X style and saw what I wanted and gave me this <3

A perfect canon story with both Charles and Erik so in character they feel truly REAL. I loved every single meaningful sentence, Erik's inability to be more kind to himself and see past using his body as a weapon and Charles's patience and wisdom at how to handle this difficult man full of strength.
Amazing story and hot sex with most delicious hints of D/s.
GAH.

i think we need more post-coital (and less post-rock) by nextraordinaire
Erik/Charles/Moira | Words: 10920 | Explicit | AU - High School, Modern Setting, Still have powers

Summary: The thing is, Charles said he wanted Moira, too. Not instead. It takes Erik nearly a week to figure out how that's going to work.

Why I rec: This is so good and deep and yet very hurtful somehow. It's a poly-story but it is focused on Erik--Erik's emotions, his inability to communicate, his low self-esteem and his surrender (in a way) or maybe his acceptance (although he has no other choice but to accept).
I am in love with this story even though it also made me cry because it hit too close to home. But I guess real emotions are never easy and real choiced often hurt others even if the outcome is happy for all parties involved.
Amazing insightful writing. <3 And the sex was just incredibly hot. GAH!

The Spaces Between by mainecoon76
Erik/Charles | Words: 14870 | Explicit | Canon AU
Summary: Almost a year after Washington, Erik is working on his own to find out what became of the Sentinel research. He keeps to himself and likes it that way. But when a mutant assassin tries to murder Charles, he finds himself reluctantly drawn into an adventure that involves a dangerous plot, Charles' own agenda, a complicated relationship, and holiday celebrations at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.

Why I rec: This is THE perfect fix-it story. I cannot express how much I loved it.
Everyone is potrayed in a perfectly canon way and yet the characters had the ability to develop and change.
Erik is ALWAYS my favorite and this Erik-centered story made me cry for him anew--for his loneliness and him trying to connect with people on various levels, for him not being able to stop caring for Charles, to stop loving Charles.
I also LOVE the way Charles's disability is shown here--in everyday actions and Charles dealing with everything but setting new boundaries.
The second (or rather third) chances depicted in this story aren't easy ones and that's why they feel so precious and true.
This story will go straight to my cherished ones <3

I want to also direct you towards two CUTEST and most WARM stories ever that have been written for my coffeeshop prompt:

Red, Gold and Green by Yahtzee
Erik/Charles | Words: 1729 | General Audiences | Modern AU, coffeeshop

Summary: Erik's working late at the coffeehouse on December 24. Why not? It's not even his holiday, he figures. The evening passes uneventfully--until a beautiful, blue-eyed stranger rolls in. As Erik writes the name "Charles" on the paper cup, he wonders why this guy doesn't seem to have anywhere to go on Christmas Eve...

Nighthawks by BadLuckBlueEyes
Erik/Charles | Words: 1142 | General Audiences | Modern AU, coffeeshop
Summary: Erik is working alone in a coffee shop on Christmas Eve and this one customer has been there for hours...

MORE TO COME. I have more stories stashed to rec!
