Steambot and Maintenance Engineer Demonstrating Primary Adjustment Technique

In other news, I took Banzai out for another creek hike today.  The water was br-r-r-risk at first and we avoided the deeper parts, but we did go a lot farther up the bike path than we have before.  I caught a crawdad for Banzai and he bit it in half and abandoned it, leaving the poor thing suffering death by bisection.  I'm pretty sure that's not a death I'd like.  I kept picking up still-wiggling body parts and giving them to eat.  He'd just crunch the shell a bit more and spit it out.  I had to put the head out of its misery on my own, but I peeled the tail for him and he ate that.

Further down the bike path (which we were on because I was trying to find a spot to get down to the creek again once we got past the rocky rapids) we found a strange thing OUT of the water for a change:  there was a little area with several pink flagstone pieces set upright in the dirt, with various names and dates written on them in sharpie or charcoal.  There were teddy bears and other mementos with some of the stones, and in front of one were two packs of ramen noodles.  Someone had tied a bandana around a nearby tree branch and there were other signs that people are visiting and maintaining the spot.   People whiz by on their bikes all the time and I bet they never look down.  Just a few feet farther away, people are whizzing by in their cars on the highway.  I'm very curious how the street people decided on that spot, where they found the flagstones, how they got them to the right size and carted them that far, and how often new stones are added, if at all.
