Incongruous

Around 9:30 last night, I was on 17th Avenue in the heart of the business district and I saw this adult fox, racing along the sidewalk.  There weren't many people around and s/he was a good 2/3 mile (I think) from the Platte River and any trees or ducks or even small parks or shrubbery.  That stuff's in scarce supply downtown, but there she was, in a real hurry to be somewhere.

If our fox population is ever radio collared, I'd love to be able to see where they go and what they get up to and what they're in such a hurry to get to.  "I think I left the stove on!"  seems unlikely.   I suppose if they got tracked and that info was public, there'd be people who'd hunt them or otherwise harass them.

It was surreal and pretty and worrisome.    And fwiw, I tried to make this into a haiku and faaaaailed.
