it's been a while
I haven't updated in forever, but I needed some breathing room before I could really think about things. My job is done - Wed was my last day. Thank God. Parts of it were really great for me, but overall it was just exhausting and the (very little) money did not make up for the shit (which was sadly both figurative and literal). Got my section and schedule today, which was very exciting. I'm ready to start...once I finish my 1000 pages of reading. By the way - why on earth do I need to do that much work for orientation? Mayhaps I should have just stayed in the 12th century. Oh well. Heading to CT for the weekend, which should be mostly good. I'm getting to see the cool side of the family on Sunday, which I'm very excited about. Tomorrow, however, is dinner with the dark side. ::gulps:: It should be interesting, because the last time we were all in a restaurant there were a lot of tears on my part. Currently playing Warren Zevon's Reconsider Me: The Love Songs. The past few months Tom Petty and a Shakira/Pussycat Dolls/Nelly Furtado crazy pop thing has made me play him less often - and dear god why did I do that? I mean, Tom is always an awesome choice (and I maintain Shakira is too) but I don't think I've ever heard lyrics that have spoken to me as much as Warren Zevon. I'm so sad I never got to see him live, because I think it would have been beyond amazing (and probably the most emotional experience of my life). I do have a live LP of his, though, so I think I'm going to listen to that before I leave tomorrow. In mundane news - getting my hair cut/dyed tomorrow! Thank God! It's been about 8 months, so it was definitely time. Also getting a massage next week, which after this job is a very necessary thing. I think it's time to listen to Warren until I fall asleep.
