I'm working at the University of Bristol now, in the Chemistry dept. Spent some time at the start in the Mechanical Workshops, and just received my Workshop Course certificate. It's laminated, and therefore shiny! Go me! For the last 8 weeks or so, I've been helping out in the Undergraduate Teaching labs, and now we've just finished packing everything in all the labs up and putting it into storage while they're being refurbished. It's been fun, and I'm moving to another section of the department next week (I think I'm moving down to the computer support people, for a week or three).

Today was, as I said, the last day. The last room to clear was Phil's office, in the First Year labs. He's been there quite a few years, but he's not the first to use the office, and people tend to leave little surprises tucked away at the back, under a pile of junk. Surprises like... yay, explosives! A tin containing some 40-year-old TATB.

Excitement ensued, as it was taken down to the Safety Center for disposal :P Pictures were taken, because it's not every day you find that kinda stuff lying around. Googling was done, and emails were sent. I think the news reached most of the department quite quickly. Ah, those silly silly chemists, what will they find lying around next?

Still, I got to spend the rest of the day sitting around playing Flash games, and reading comics, and now I get to sleep. Yay!
