I'm so glad that the work week is over... I really need a couple of days off to recuperate. Some of that is going to be spent dealing with the basement. Wednesday night's torrential downpour was a little bit more than our basement foundation could handle. Water was pouring through the cracks in three different locations. We just let it go - there wasn't much that we could do at that point.

Today, Jeff patched the cracks themselves with a waterproofing silica-based thing that is designed for just that situation. We're supposed to get more storms tonight, so I guess we'll see if that does any good at all.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to spray the place (walls and floors) down with a bleach water solution to prevent mold and mildew from growing. Then we're going to put that water-proofing whitewash stuff on all of the walls down there.

Fun times.

Eventually we want to get some outdoor french drains put in, but that's a lot of work and I'm guessing a lot of money, so it can't happen right away. I do realize that we need to try to prevent the water from going through the foundations to begin with, but at the very least we'll keep it patched and waterproofed!

In other news, I'm having a pretty rough time with my allergies this week. I have developed a dry rasping cough, and now my chest vaguely aches, as if there's some sort of irritant in my lungs. And I'm guessing that there is. BUT, just in case it's something more serious, I'm going to the doctor on Tuesday. I'm trying to take better care of myself, and this is part of it.

And speaking of taking better care of myself, my workplace is doing a Walk for Fitness 10,000 steps a day thing. I'm going to try to participate - I really need to increase my physical activity and knowing that I have to log my steps and be somewhat accountable to someone else will help motivate me.

Well, I'm off to start my weekend. First off, laundry! (I know, I should really calm down my partying ways...) Then, something much more fun - I'm off to Beth's to hang out with her while our guys game.

Everyone have a great weekend!
