Family Christmas

Dec 26, 2007 12:13

Very few traditions compare to the ones we have on Christmas. The only difference between this year and all the ones before, is that we had Christmas at my house ^..^ I called my parents around 8 and told them I was awake and hungry and they needed to head over. So they packed up the gifts and just headed over to my place where we made breakfast. After breakfast (which was huge - eggs, sausage and pancakes O..o sooo full), we opened our gifts and things got interesting.

It started when Dad went to open his first gift and it was a shower turban (one of those things you wear to keep your hair up after you shower). Mom had labeled the gift wrong, and that was actually mine. He then got 10 pair of socks from me in so many varied colors. There were 2 pair of red and yellow which was what he wanted, but the rest ranged in colors of cyan, turquoise, purple etc. Mom also got him Obsession for Men, which ensures that he’ll smell good.

Mom got my earrings and necklace and loved it. She loved that. I had to explain that the next gift wasn’t my fault, because it was her gloves, and she’d bought a pair of gloves for herself so…in actually, I bought myself a nice pair of gloves =..= She also got a $100 gift certificate to the mall and the Roomba that Dad got for her.

My gifts were funny because I went to open the first huge box and I said “It’d be really funny if my iPod were in here.” And then I opened the box and…my iPod was in there ^..^ I’ve named my little iPod nanno Urania (Wikipedia that). In the next box was a pair of Bath & Bodyworks Slippers & Robe (softest thing in the word). Then Dad goes outside and carts in this huge 8 x 11 area rug called Bamboo Garden which I’ve only been eyeing since I decided to move into the Nexus. I’d pretty much given up on it, only because I knew I’d never have the money for it. I was pleased ^..^

After that, we packed up and went to my Aunt Tammy’s for a big “Family Christmas”. I’m not really much for big social gatherings, and family gatherings really aren’t much different. So my strategy of finding someone you know you can stick to and stick to them was in play and I just hung around my younger cousin Drewbe for most of the day…Though Tim’s girlfriend was a ton of fun too. It’s always great to see Aunt Tony and Uncle Billy though. They’re really great.

We ended up handing out gifts before eating and I got a super soft blanket from Aunt Carolyn and a pretty picture frame with kanji on the edges from my Aunt Tammy. I don’t remember…oh no, wait. My parents got an iHop gift card, which I’m sure we’ll use ^..^ I don’t remember what every else got, but, I had Zeiss with me, so it’s preserved on DVD forever.

After eating and hanging out for a while, Dad brought me home and returned to play cards. I spent the rest of my afternoon (from about 2:30 to 5:20) charging and setting up Urania. That was aggravating. You try ripping music to iTunes when you have no internet? Yeah, I don’t recommend it. I was lucky only because I had some of the booklets that came with the CDs. But over-all, it was not a fun job. Once I got a system down, it worked out well. But still. Tedious and grulling. Of course now that I have Urania, I want all the accessories that go with iPods. So I’ll probably be looking into iPod products like the speaker systems and arm bands or whatever they have soon enough.

Other than that, nothing’s new. It’s getting to be crunch time at work since the year’s almost over. So I only take minimal brain breaks and only check e-mail and LJ on my lunch break (as opposed to taking brain breaks all the time and checking them whenever I feel like it). Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some lovely Chinese food sitting on my desk. Later, Sunshines.
