so first off...i finally got around to sending off my thesis for publication. i havent worked on it as much as i should have once i got back to tampa after presenting the paper at the Add Health Conference. and this was obvious to Dr. Jordan because she emailed me asking me if i had sent it out already. so i finally got around to looking it over one more time and i sent it out earlier this evening. cross your fingers for me. :-)

so luckily it appears as if Ivan will not be hitting the tampa area. too bad for the girl that ran away to virginia and missed two days of work because of it.

so i saw two movies but we took them back to get video games (mario party 5, capcom vs. snk 2) before i got around to posting about them. so i'll use the imdb summaries.

Godsend
Following the death of their eight year old son on his birthday, Jessie (Romijn-Stamos) and Paul (Kinnear) are befriended by a doctor on the forefront of genetic research (DeNiro) at the height of their mourning. He leads the couple in a desperate attempt to reverse the rules of nature and clone their son. The experiment is successful and under Richard's watchful eye, Adam grows into a healthy and happy young boy, until his 8th birthday. As time goes by, the Duncan's gradually start to see small, subtle differences between the new Adam and the Adam they lost. At the time of the new Adam's eighth birthday, the changes in character are more pronounced. Adam grows distant and fearful as a palpable sense of menace settles within the young boy. This Adam begins to suffer from night terrors and frightening flashbacks as a sinister personality begins to emerge. Paul and Jessie cannot escape the fact that this Adam is different. Terror settles on the couple as they try to come to terms with just what they have done, or what has been done to them.

it was pretty good. not as good as i thought. and i really dont have anything else to say about it. the summary says it all.

Taking Lives
A successful FBI profiler, Illeana Scott (Jolie), is summoned to help out Canadian law enforcement in Montreal, to hunt down a serial killer who assumes the lives and identities (hence the title) of the people he kills as he travels across North America, which forces Illeana to adjust to working in a strange city with a police team with which she doesn't really fit in with.

a lot of people knocked this movie, and i didnt really know what to expect, i got to see it for free so i didnt really care going into it. but i ended up really liking it. and so did curtis. i'm just a wuss when it comes to things and people poping up and scaring the crap out of me.

and now pictures from today.
i went to the Ybor City Museum and then i just wandered around downtown Ybor. it was pretty quiet down there because of the people who had left because of the storm.

the museum was inside an old bakery building:

casitas (cigar worker's houses):

inside the casita:
living room:

master bedroom:

room for everyone else (the tour guy told me that this room is underfurnished and there probably were a lot more people living in that room then they show):

kitchen:

courtyard beside the museum:

the park across the street from the museum:

wandering around downtown:
The Bunker (now abandoned):

weird facade, i dont know if the building was ever whole or if it was built like that:

an abandoned nightclub...it looks so pitiful:

the Italian social club:

random signs:

i can't tell if this building was abandoned or just prepared for the hurricane:

The Castle:

an abandoned float:

and then i got back to my car and it looked like this:

GRRRRR
