so isnt it nice to know that most American soldiers in Iraq have been killed since Bush declared an end to the war. some of which shouldnt even still be overseas because they should have finished their time served.

so there was something a while back about all the lies in farenheit 9/11. well that's a film, so there's guaranteed to be some bias and some exaggeration and people have a problem with that. but to the same people it's okay when george w. bush does it. i.e. the fact that he said that his military records have all been released to the public but recently more records have begun to surface. they call kerry a flip-flopper but what about the difference between when bush was governor and when bush became president...

i am not making this up...it was from a clip that Jon Stewart did on the Daily Show called "Bush Vs. Bush." i know that the Daily Show pokes fun at a lot of things and they are of course poking fun here...but these are actual quotes from publicized speeches from both before and after he was elected.
Jon Stewart: Why is the United States of America using its power to change governments in foreign countries?

President Bush: We must stand up for our security and for the permanent rights and the hopes of mankind. The United States of America will make that stand.

Jon Stewart: Well certainly that represents a bold new doctrine in foreign policy, Mr. President. Governor Bush do you agree with that?

Governor Bush: Yea, I'm not so sure the role of the United States is to go around the world and say, "This is the way it's gotta be."

Jon Stewart: That's a difference of opinion and certainly that's what this country is about, differences of opinion. Mr. President, let me just get specific, why are we in Iraq?

President Bush: We will be, um, changing the regime of Iraq, for the good of the Iraqi people.

Jon Stewart: Governor, then I'd like to hear your response on that.

Governor Bush: If we're an arrogant nation, then they'll resent us. I think one way for us to end up being viewed as the ugly American is for us to go around the world saying, "We do it this way, so should you."

Jon Stewart: Well that's an excellent point. I don't think we can argue with that. Mr. President, is the idea to just build a new country that we like better?

President Bush: We will tear down the apparatus of terror and we will help you to build a new Iraq that is prosperous and free.

Governor Bush: I don't think our troops should be used for what is called "nation building."

Jon Stewart: That's fair enough, Governor, I mean certainly, you're entitled to that. But then Governor, answer this, how do you propose we nation build? Would you use diplomacy?

Governor Bush: Let me say this to you, I wouldn't use force. I wouldn't use force.

in other news. sometimes it's nice living near the mall. but not when the major road (i.e. 8-10 lanes across total) is flooded and they have to direct traffic onto the little two lane road that goes in front of our apartment complex. now the smart thing to do concerning the flooded part of the road is to not let anyone through at all. there are two perfectly good roads on either side that run parallel and can get you to everything. they do have a sign up at the last major intersecting road before the water and it says to get to I-275 turn left and to get to the mall turn right. then they have some of the lanes blocked off so that only one is going through. they have no mention that the road is completely impassable! the sign should have something about "road under water" on it, that would make sense. because what happens is that for those people who for some odd reason dont know that fowler is under water*, they go through that light and then end up having to be detoured at another light down the way. so then they turn right into the mall parking lot and assume that they can just turn left and then get around the water...which is not possible. they end up having to drive all the way around the mall and going back to the major intersection where they should be completely blocking off traffic. or they should at least make people turn left at the detour and not into the mall parking lot.

so anyway...i was at said intersection where they have two lanes turning left, one turning right and one going straight (when normally there are 3 going straight). and an ambulance is trying to get through. obviously it's going to try and get through on the right side because the people turning right (i was in that line) are the only ones that can conceivable move out of the way (i.e. onto the grass). so i move and the ambulance gets right beside me and the guy in front of me still hasnt moved out of the way (and it's not like you couldnt hear it coming). i had to beep at him so he'd move. so the light was red during all this commotion. and it turns green before the ambulance has cleared the intersection. and as soon as it goes green the guy right next to me who wants to go straight starts beeping. like he couldnt see the fricking ambulance trying to get through the intersection. man, people are assholes. i hope that guy got up to the flooded area and had to go around in a big circle.

so i'll have an extensive photo post later about the Ringling Museum which was my adventure for the day. I was going to continue on to the South Florida Museum and the MOTE Aquarium but they are closed for maintenance until September 17th (non-hurricane related, unless it was related to Charley and not Frances, because they've been closed since August 30th). so then i was going to go to Historic Spanish Point which sounds a lot like Heritage Village but when i called them they said they were out of power and so i decided to just come home.

*this is entirely possible considering that i just saw on the news that the road is closed and it's been closed since at least 11:00 am monday morning. in fact, when i went to work that morning and saw the cop cars and assumed that it was an accident, i couldnt find anything online. they didnt even talk about it on the news until 4:00 pm, and they were claiming that it was breaking news. and even then all they talked about was a nursing home that had to be evacuated. i only one quick mention that "10 blocks of Fowler are under water."
