so i went to the Florida Holocaust Museum in St. Petersburg this morning. it's the fourth largest Holocaust museum in the United States. there were three floors. the first floor housed the permanent exhibits that detailed the Holocaust from the beginning to the end. an audiotape tour was included with the price of admission. this is different than the Holocaust Museum in DC because there you go upstairs to the fourth floor and work your way down. the main focus in the Florida Holocaust Museum was an original boxcar from one of the trains that moved people from the towns to the death camps. it's very disturbing. another interesting thing is that i had to write an essay on the architecture of the U.S. Holocaust Museum and architecture was important in this museum as well. but it was not as big of a focus at it was in the U.S. Holocaust Museum. in the Florida Holocaust Museum, the entrance to the second floor is right above the box car. all of the railings that are on the second floor are fashioned after fences at the death camps.

the second floor had two art exhibits and artifacts from one man's personal Holocaust collection. the art was really interesting since i hadnt seen any Holocaust related art before. i bought two books about Holocaust art at the museum shop. one was specifically about one of the exhibits that i saw and another was about a previous exhibit. i also bought a postcard that has the boxcar on it. the third floor held the library and more art that was based done by all different survivors of the Holocaust.

when i went to pay admission into the museum i pulled out my college ID and the one old man said, "i had thought you were under 18." and then twice at work, on two separate occasions, coworkers asked me if i had just graduated from high school. grrr.

right behind the Holocaust Museum was a Yellow Submarine:

so then i went to work and i had been expecting to go home at 7. when we aren't busy they send the person scheduled till nine home at seven. but the manager decided he wanted me to stay instead of the other guy. but whatever, more money for me. so then i went to margarita mama's (at the mall) and hung out with Curtis, Holly, and Rachel. and curtis was on his 3rd long island ice tea. he got a 4th but i had to finish it for him. so for all intents and purposes i had one long island ice tea, on an empty stomach, then i had to drive curtis and i home. good thing we only live 2 minutes from the mall, if that. i felt the alcohol hit me at one of the stop signs so i'm def glad we left when we did and that we dont live farther away from the mall.

so tomorrow i've decided to sleep in. because i've been getting up early and going places or working so i'm going to sleep in tomorrow...
