Gladly!
Brett Favre decided recently he wants to "unretire."
The Packers organization has had to make a move for the upcoming season and has designated Aaron Rodgers (who has been backing up Favre for the past few seasons, learning/training) the QB of Green Bay for the 2008 season around NFL draft time in late April, after Brett assured him he was staying retired. (as you know, the drama re: Favre retirement has been going on for the past several seasons).
Brett Favre then asked for the Packers to grant him an unconditional release at the beginning of July. Unconditional release basically constitutes the Pack waiving all their rights to him (he is under contract) and allowing him to sign with any team he wants, not allow the Packers to get involved with the trade (which would likely give them a draft pick, or a replacement player in return for their current ownership of Favre's contrace)
The Packers released a timeline last Saturday that bolstered their case in this PR war...it shows Brett Favre has been in discussions regarding "un-retiring" since the end of March (three weeks after his tearful retirement press conference) showing how they worked with him, offered and were prepared to let him back in Green Bay as the QV, before moving ahead with plans to use their back up QB (who has been patiently waiting to replace Favre since 2005) , Aaron Rodgers.
Favre basically pitches a fit. Acts unprofessionally. Reveals a very troubled relationship with the GM of the Pack, Ted Thompson.
It is now being alleged that Brett Favre had a few conversations with offensive coach Darrell Bevell of the Minnesota Vikings regarding taking a job up there. This is a trade the Packers would never make with their "rights" to Favre, under a binding NFL contract. Minnesota is Green Bay's biggest rival, and primed for dominance in the NFC Central this year. (to draw an outrageous comparison, it's like Mac giving their Iphone tech to some knock off competitor) If Favre had strategic conversations with Bevell (and ALSO, more importantly & allegedly the head coach of Minnesota who hypocritically tried to add to the drama earlier this week in the press with some asshat comments), then that would be a complete and total violation of his contract with the Packers, and assumedly why Favre had the balls to suddenly "demand a release" from his 12 million contract with the Packers.
On one hand, yes, Favre should play. Obviously. But, also, he has to go through the proper channels like every other player and organization in the league.

And, these are the DAys of Our Lives. :)
