My mom got married in a similar suit, without the lace, in 1984. She and Dad had a courthouse wedding. Very simple, very understated. I'm expecting my sister's dress to be an explosion of lace. :D

If you gain weight before the wedding you just lace it a little looser instead of having to deal with refitting. ;)
