Christmas knitting, Rd. 1

1) I never actually got to my yarn therapy last night, because I couldn't make up my mind. I have some sportweight yarn in my cart to re-knit those black mitts with the double ruffle at the wrist, but that's a "business purchase". *snort* I've decided that I'd like to knit the Butterfly Dress by Jennie Atkinson*, only not in kid mohair, because ( Read more... )

"...I really think that Layla should have ended up with Warren Peace. Really."

Someone put it in the DVD player during our post-Thanksgiving festivities. Can I just say that Warren Peace is VERY popular with the 30 something crowd?

Yes, Mrs. Robinson was mentioned.

That aside-your doily is lovely and people do, indeed, suck.

Warren Peace is very popular with this mid-20s crowd of one! I wanted to be his inappropriately college-aged girlfriend.

Thanks! I am fond of it. I'm glad my grandma likes doilies so much, because I don't really decorate with doilies, as much as I enjoy making them.

You know, if she's tired of putting up with all that crap, and if the stuff is really as valuable as you say, I'm sure someone [cough][ahem] could be found to transfer all of it over to his place, say, some nice, kind [cough][ahem]individual who's working on setting up (slowly) an online bookstore....[cough][ahem]

Hee!

I'm not sure she wants to charge for it at all, given that it is all in the public domain. I'm not sure what a deal with you would consist of, but I'll try to track down her contact info and pass along your e-mail address, if you like.

I love the Aubergine, too, but dark purple emphasizes all the red in my skin. Every little blemish I have suddenly becomes a huge blotch. Very disappointing, as dark purple is an awesome color.

The Merlot is the best choice, isn't it?

Random: Red wine gives me really bad wine flush. About the same as wearing dark purple, really. Heh.

If I weren't such a sausage in shape, I'd knit that dress. My daughter has the figure, but NEVER in a million years would she wear such a pretty and feminine thing.

::sigh::

Go for the merlot color. It will look spectacular with your complexion.

What? You mean you don't do the mother guilt-trip thing and force your daughter to wear clothes you have acquired? My mom does that, and then pulls the, "Oh, but you look so pretty!" thing when I'm about to tell her I don't.

Merlot it is. Ciorstan has spoken. :P

OHHAILNO. My mom used to pull that kind of crap, but the opposite. I couldn't stand the clothes she provided because they were 50s style and I wanted bellbottoms like everyone else had at school. Or even if they were remotely in style, they were highwaters.

I got teased a lot for my clothing. I was also a nerd, so I got teased for that, too. Kids are cruel, as you know.

My mom, the science teacher, said-- who cares? You wear what I provide.

And I won't do that to MY kids. If they're old enough to have their own taste, then they're old enough to choose their own clothes. Yes, there are limits (decency and budgetary), but neither has ever been an issue with them.

Oh, my mom doesn't do stuff like that. She just doesn't like some of the clothes I wear, so she attempts to replace them with clothes she does like. She'll come home from shopping or take me shopping, and does the "Oh, but you look so pretty in this!" thing.

She has this crazy idea that I look good in blouson tops. My brother calls me "Puff" when I wear them, because that's what I look like. Puff puff!

I really don't mind it, because I wasn't teased at school for being either too smart or ugly. I mean, I am a dork, but I'm a sweet dork with soulful eyes or something like that.

That doily is lovely!
Thanks for the crochet link - it is just too bad about the vintage crochet site - there were some really cute patterns there!
