This is what is currently on my dressmaker's dummy, waiting for me to finish NaNo and work on it.
This is what I hope to end up with. It's an 1850s day-to-evening dress. There's a plastron concealing the low neck, and then there are detachable sleeves. My sleeves will be long and tight to the wrist, I think, mostly because I have very little fabric.
Right now, I have it on my dummy over my 16th-century bumroll and about three yards of tulle pleated over that. The skirt is just pinned to the dummy, so that's not done. The bodice also needs to be fitted and I need a new 1850s corset. Also, a bunch of petticoats. So, everything! Heh.
I originally put the skirt on the dummy because I had it hanging over the dummy's shoulder, and Gus kept trying to reach up and pat it with his paw. He's got this thing for hiding under long skirts when they're on my dummy, so I put it on for him to hide under. (Uh, the jury is still out on whether or not this was a wise move for fabric health.) He hasn't hidden under the skirt yet, but he has spent much time hiding behind it.
I'm not sure why he has that little billhook in front of him. He does look like he's planning something . . .
