DAMMIT!

I am making two posts because one is incredibly happy and the other is just gloomy ....

So here are the gloomy news ... one of my favorite players on the N.Y. Rangers .. Jed Ortmeyer(look at Icon) is sidelined indefenitely with a Pulmonary Embolism *Wails*

This is NOT Fair! He's only 28 years old and he had been resigned! He's one of the guys who is just the heart and soul of the team and DAMMIT I WANT HIM TO BE OK!  Now from what I read on this thing is it treadable ...  this is from a post at the Rangers board that I visit ... it was posted by : messaround

From the Mayo Clinic site. This is serious stuff. Big problem when flying it seems.

Pulmonary embolism is a condition that occurs when an artery in your lung becomes blocked. In most cases, the blockage is caused by one or more blood clots that travel to your lungs from another part of your body.

Most of these blood clots originate in the legs, but they can also form in the arm veins, the right side of the heart or even at the tip of a catheter placed in a vein. In rare instances, other substances, such as a globule of fat, tissue from a tumor or a clump of bacteria, may lodge in the arteries of the lungs.

In most cases, a pulmonary embolism isn't fatal. Still, pulmonary embolism is a leading cause of hospital deaths and an increasing threat to passengers on long airplane flights. But a few simple measures can go a long way toward preventing pulmonary embolism. And when pulmonary embolism does occur, treatment with anti-clotting medications can greatly reduce the risk of death.

It SO SUCKS! I am SO upset because I love him and he HAS to be ok and YES I am greedy, I want him to be ok AND play hockey but if he can only be ok then that will have to be good enough *WAILS*

ETA : It seems that Jed is hopeful that it was caught so soon and he is so young that with treatment and medication that he will be 100% for training camp ... you can read about it HERE in this article posted by the AP ...

Basically this is what his agent says of what the doctor's preliminary results have been ...

"They believe it can be treated with medication," Witkin said. "There has been no statement that his career is in jeopardy."
