Obviously, posting regularly is not destined to be. I just can't be bothered with putting the proxy on and dealing with the molasses slow connection times.
School is back in session, which is good and bad. I mean, anytime a person has to return to work after being paid to sit around doing nothing is going to be bad, but on the other hand, I'm much more productive on a busier schedule. Plus now I have free printing and photocopying again, bonus. I'm also almost done with this phase of the great "overeducate myself into oblivion" project aka MA #2, and absolutely must get my research proposal done by the end of this month. I spent about an hour last night looking at letting agency listings for our future city in England, and was practically in tears over how nice the places seemed. Honestly, I think in many ways renting and real estate is much cheaper in non-London England than Asia. You definitely get more bang for your buck, and such nicer bang, too.
So yeah, work has been taking up most of my time, which is not horribly interesting. We ended up skipping out on the October holidays, just because we were so burnt out on the summer's ridiculous travel schedule. It ended up being a good thing, anyway. J had the flu all week, which would have made for a lousy beach holiday. To cheer myself up over not getting a fall trip. I booked a weekend in Japan for us in November and our January holidays. We are going to Laos for ten days and then spending 5 days on Bali. It shall be fantastic. We are staying at the cutest boutique places in Laos, and for our layover in Bangkok, and our resort on Bali looks extremely acceptable, most swish. My mother was meant to come when we get back for a visit, but now she wants to meet up in South America instead. I of course, immediately jumped on this plan and started obsessively planning, so hopefully in February I'll also spend a couple of weeks in Peru and Argentina. Also: good motivation to dust off my Spanish notes and Neruda anthologies.
The other super exciting news is that my Stanford roommate, HMH, is coming for New Years. I haven't seen her since my wedding and that wasn't exactly quality time, so it will be great to catch up. Plus she's never been to Asia and it's always fun to show newbies around - the enthusiasm! It's actually making me feel a bit better about missing our five year reunion this weekend. On the other hand, I'm old and cranky now (read: have a much lower tolerance for alcohol), so I doubt that anything at reunion could recapture the glorious (drunken) antics of the past. I swear, I would rather set myself on fire than relive high school, but I'd do uni in a second.
