Ever wonder why kids are so eager to "listen" to other people's parents and not their own. Or even if they do listen to their own parents, it always comes after a heated discussion of proving why they should listen

It means that "I'm going to stop trying to change the vicious cycle" because it won't work.

I'll just do the same thing that they do, except opposite -
"I'll listen to other people's kids, and NOT MINE"
